The Last of Us has been delayed on PC, Naughty Dog confirms

The remaster of the 2013 PS3 game was due to release on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on March 3. However, in a statement published on Friday, its developer announced it had now been pushed back to March 28.

That means the PC version will now release a few weeks after the conclusion of the hit HBO show, which is due to air its final episode on Sunday, March 12.

“We at the studio have been completely blown away by the outpouring of love and support for The Last of Us these last few weeks,” Naughty Dog wrote on social media.

“Hearing your love for the HBO adaptation, seeing your beautiful Photo Mode shots, and learning about how the world and characters our studio created nearly a decade ago continue to reach new and old fans alike floors us every day.

“We know a lot of you have been revisiting the story that started it all with The Last of Us Part I on PlayStation 5 console, and we realize many of you have been excited to jump in – some for the first time – when Part I hits PC.

“And so we want to make sure that The Last of Us Part I PC debut is in the best shape possible. These additional few weeks will allow us to ensure this version of The Last of Us lives up to your, and our, standards.

“We are so excited to bring The Last of Us Part I to a new platform, reaching new and returning players with Joel and Ellie’s unforgettable story of survival, and we hope that you’ll continue to look forward to its PC release on March 28.”

The Last of Us Part 1 was released for PS5 last year with modernised gameplay and controls, plus expanded accessibility options.

In VGC’s The Last of Us Part 1 review, we said: “If you want to play the very best version of one of the greatest games that has ever been made, then The Last of Us Part 1 is a triumph.

I bought the remaster to play before the show, and the performance sealed the deal for me.... I'd rather wait 10 years to play at 60+ fps with max graphics on my pc.

The remaster is one of the worst running games on ps5 imo. I played on quality, turn on the flashlight in the dark, instantly down to 20 fps. Esp if there's rain. Not playable for me personally, esp knowing the superior version is right around the corner.


Either way a few more weeks isn't that bad, at least it's still in March.

Did my use of remaster confuse you? Sorry, that's my bad. Sony has made this game so many times now idk what the difference between remaster or remake is. Having 3 versions of the same game is new to me coming from pc where I only need one version.

Personally I did notice a big improvement from performance to fidelity in terms of crispness, especially in foliage and faces. Since it's a slower game I am definitely giving it another run in unlocked fidelity mode which looked fantastic to me when I tried for a couple mins.

After witcher for sure then. I remember being an emotionalcel when I watched the opening cutscene with the singing.

Then when you start playing and seeing all the characters in the camp as you walked through with the dude. Like don't get me wrong the TLOU 1 remake looks great but something about the scenery and animations in part 2 made a bigger impression of realism to me. It photorealismening

I think it's more than one part. I think it mostly has to do with being in dark areas and using the flashlight, which is exactly what this video shows when the dips below 30 happen. Even in performance mode this video shows the same scenario, dark areas with flashlight on makes the framerate dip below 60.

Daylight and well lit areas are generally fine and stay at 30 fps. But considering the dark parts with your flashlight on are generally the most tense parts of the game, it really breaks the immersion for me.

Did you read bongo's post? He specifically mentioned that one scene with the 27 fps and that was like the worst scene of the game. Only had 3 or 4 other small instances where it dropped just below 30 in the entire game. That's nothing.

I speculated this in another thread. If you play a game yourself, you know details you can recognize in someone else who played it. He apparently bought a PS5 and a bunch of exclusives and hasn't liked a single one so far...besides Tsushima apparently but he has never mentioned a single part of his playthrough he liked. He just knows the cliffnote version of what the game is about.

Sure. Let's say I'm poor, only have one small apartment and was able to scrape up enough money to finally buy a ps5. I don't mind going with that.

Now back to you. You got the ps5, claimed Ragnarok was trash, the system was trash, the haptics were trash. Then after that you went on to buy 4-5 more exclusives and since then haven't even mentioned any details or even a positive thing about any of them.
