Odd, Mike has been following this very closely and this study is 'new' but it's just saying things I've known and talked about for over a year now.
C*19 is basically only dangerous to certain groups: Elderly or sickly.
There's your cliffs.
I've been saying this for some time now and nobody here who wasn't retard (ie. nobody but Pat) seemed to even question it at all, regardless of where they stood on all this. Earnest posters like JLC even posted links from the CDC saying exactly this as well.
Anyway, here's a new study saying this. I guess if the point is the media inflated, exaggerated and propagandized this, yes they did, but for the rest of us here, most of us knew better already. Video must be aimed at less informed people, most of us know so much more than average people, since we go back and forth over this as much as we do.

Child death rate way lower than getting taken to and from school every day. School closures were entirely about protecting the fat school secretaries and fat teachers a decade past being able to collect their pension. I brought it up in July or August 2020 in nicer words on the local school Facebook page but was castigated.
Feelz before realz. I'm sure the misc screeching harpies know better than world renowned epidemiologists out of Stanford though. Give it a few hours so they can enlighten us.
This correlates with what medical examiners who don't work for government have been saying, and not just American. Basically young people who already had cancer or made Fat Albert seem slim were at risk.

Johnny Utah really on that covid/vax thingy lately. I guess he needs something to keep him busy in between analyzing the ratio of gay sex trysts gone wrong to legitimate home invasion attacks.

Data from the National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Fund database shows that Covid was the leading cause of duty-related police deaths in 2020

FBI Releases 2019 Statistics on Law Enforcement Officers Killed in the Line of Duty
The 48 felonious deaths occurred in 19 states and in Puerto Rico. The 5- and 10-year comparisons show an increase of 7 felonious deaths compared with the 2015 figure (41 officers) and a decrease of 7 deaths compared with 2010 data (55 officers).

Lol.
So 48 felonious deaths in 2019, felonious deaths go beyond homicide.
I know you asked for the leading cause of death among cops in 2020 so you can make covid look scary, this is why context matters.
In 2021, 150 cops killed themselves, seems they should be more scared of themselves or even covid than they are the public.

Best of luck to anyone looking for exact flu related ICU data. With flu almost nobody ever gets tested, which is why they do a huge range of guesstimates. In year ___ there were 30 to 70 million flu infections. We know every winter media would report of overflowing hospitals from flu season in Los Angeles (and other cities), with temporary tents full of flu patients set up outside some years. And of course none of what you pointed to counteracts the Stanford study.
If it makes you feel better the very elderly with multiple comorbidities were definitely at risk and dying in 2020. 30% of the US population was infected with SARS2 in 2020 (Colombia University peer reviewed study), which is more than any seasonal flu, so that definitely made things seem bad. Even with the overexaggerated younger deaths about 40% of all Covid deaths in 2020 were being reported out of nursing homes. With revised data it would probably have been more like 55-60% of all deaths were in nursing homes, where less than 1% of the population live.
Cliffs: It was far more upwardly stratified toward the elderly than originally believed, far less of a worry for everyone under 60, especially under 50. The #1 comorbidity wasn't diabetes or obesity, #1 was dementia, then liver disease and liver failure. Not a lot of people under 60 with those.Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

I strongly suspect those trends, the long covid sides, they likely follow the same trajectory as the death rate. My guess, because no study I am aware of on this one, but elderly/sickies are the ones most at risk and younger healthy people recover just fine.
Empirically, harder call for me to make. I've known many people who have had covid and all but two had a very easy time with it. Of the two who did not, one was 85 and made a full recovery, the other was my younger brother in law, who took it pretty badly the first time and took about 1-1/2 months to get back to things. No noticeable lingering long covid in either case and everyone else who had it made full recoveries and didn't struggle with it while having it, either.
So, I'd like to see some large studies here but just from personal observation, I know nobody who has had long-term health implications.
Not dogging on you, but on an individual case: Who cares?
IMO, pretty much anyone who is younger and healthy has nothing to be concerned about. To me that is the issue: Who is dying, who is getting sick, who is having a hard time? More and more, that answer is very obvious, and it's people like NYPat or old men like z4v4 whose father fought in the Civil War with a fully semi-automatic machine rifle, but younger people who take care of themselves aren't on the chopping block.[QUOTE=Bodhy;1660771503]Q.
