The systems are more alike than ever before. Its literally 95% the same thing.
all these noobs dont remember how it was in the 90s. Sega and nintendo had TONS of exclusives, TONS of games only on that platform. PC was also a completely separate category.
PS1 vs N64 era the games and graphics were completely different all from the CD vs cartridge technology. Nintendo 64 was faster but it only had enough space for ****ty low rez textures that got blurred out. PS 2x CD rom speed meant loading times, the consoles were VERY DIFFERENT
ps3 vs xbox 360 we seen the consoles get very very similar for the first time around, there were still more exclusives back then compared to today
ps4 vs xbox the start of that gen there was a bigger gap in performance of ps4 to xbox one, by the time the two pro series consoles came out the gap in performance was very narrow
Now today the gap of performance is very narrow and the games are almost all the same on both. most of the exclusives that are left are just remakes and sequels and nothing new. Its just a commodity and comes down to what price and game bundles is better for you . Also more games are shared with PC than ever before, hell the consoles are literally customized PCs.

I don't think people are fighting about the gap in performance, it's the gigantic gap in software, I think this gen is the biggest its been in a long time.

It’s bizarre. And in terms of new first party titles (counting cross gen, not counting “directors cuts”/remasters), they have both put out a similar number of titles with similarly high average reviews in the last 2 years.
And they both are seemingly ending cross gen support at the same time, end of last year. I remember that being a big argument the first few months of the consoles launch, after one party said they were going to do a cross gen period, and another said “we believe in generations” in response.Last edited by ScramFranklin; 02-04-2023 at 09:37 AM.

Honestly, Playstation fans are just really phucking weird these days. Like everywhere else you will just find people who are fans of video games and enjoy playing them on whatever, but the Sony fans never seem to be that genuine. Like they are always obsessed with trying to be competitive with all the other fanbases and they just try to have a dominant presence among gamers and nerds. I think that's why there's always so much console wars conflict whenever they show up, because they have a signature toxicity and devotion that always seems to stir up divide.
Put the Sonycels on ignore, kick them out of the conversations, and all the stupid console rivalry bullchit goes away. Nobody else is like them really. They're the only people who consistently take an elitist approach to the console and games they like to play. Other groups might joke around about that, but the Sonycels take it very seriously, and their personal egos are tied in with it.

Never had rivalries over consoles with my friends. One of us would have N64, the other PS1, and whenever we all hung out we'd be wowed by the console we didn't own.
The closest thing I remember to a "rivalry" back then was me thinking PS1 had fun looking games, but the graphics were pushed beyond their capabilities and looked really choppy and hard on the eyes as a result. Looking back, I love the aesthetic of both consoles.

They vast majority of people fighting about software are Sony fanboys that think reskinned copy pasta open world games somehow set a huge difference between the two. The difference is much smaller than they think. I enjoy some of those games but most of them are assassins creed with a different overlay with the same style objectives, just getting different objects. There’s only so many different ways to “go here, find that” that are original. All those games do it across both platforms. Quality and originality and quantity are separate things.

Have you ever seen this subsection? It's the exact same way.
I never had a distaste for Playstation until this forum. Constant arguing with Sony fanboys, literally any thread that isn't about Sony turns into one because their fanboys are the most vocal on the internet by a long shot.Yes... come and let us make an end of it. It matters not, even cornered, to my last breath... I remain who and what I am. I will not hide, nor tremble, nor beg. Let them come and reckon with fury that is DOOM defiant.

They are a strange breed. There are weirdo Xbox and PC fanboys but the ratio between them compared to Sony is off the charts. They get so deeply offended and tie it to their own self worth in a really weird insecurity kind of way. Obviously some of its trolling but there really are gamers like that, from what I’ve seen 9/10 of them are Sony fans.

For real. Can't count how often some Sony fanboy would try to bait me into an argument only to eventually start spewing personal insult attempts at me. It's like you said, there's weirdo fanboys all around, but there's just something about the Sony fanbase where 9/10 times it is them when you encounter some fanboy that is quick to get personal because they take your personal gaming takes as a personal insult.
It definitely comes off as some odd insecurity thing as well. It's why they cling so hard to any exclusive titles that come along and treat anything going on in the industry that effects Sony like it's a personal matter for them. Like these people no joke have a significant portion of their ego tied in with their fanboyism for Playstation on the internet.

Am I the only one seeing the irony in this thread? Most people complaining of toxic fanboys are here participating in fanboy wars themselves near daily. You all have such disdain for the other side that you don't see the same fault in yourselves.
That's the reason I'm not here complaining. I know I am very guilty of participating in fanboy wars myself so it would look stupid of me to come chit on Xcels for doing the same.
Difference is, I don't feel bad about it at all. It makes the sub fun. I love seeing the back and forth arguments and discussions, it's entertaining AF. This sub is pretty lively for a community of only 12 members. Imagine how dead and boring it would be if all we saw on the front page were lame mgftp news headlines he rips from a game news site and your occasional Scram "Game releases of the month" threads.
You phagots love it here.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
