Watching the players play, you can tell the 80s and 90s, and even the 2000s players had more raw skill and finesse than LeBron.
He's never going to be goat.
I would put him below Rick Fox. It's like comparing natty to bicycling in bb.

The pistons were the greatest defensive team in NBA history, stopping Shaq and Kobe with Maloke and Payton.. and Bron took that core group to 7 games in his first ever playoff appearance, before beating them by scoring 25 straight points in the next year.
Also that is very much BS considering that he played in 2 of the greatest finals in NBA history, and almost won Finals MVP on a losing team. 2013, 2015, and 2016 are talked about endlessly

Why are you all about Lebron? Dude has good genetics, strong work ethic and can bully people. Clearly on a bicycle, but most of them are.
He however does not have natural talent like other players. He works hard, that is to be admired, but he is not a natural leader or a skill machine.Life is easy when you take personal responsibility

LeBron? That's been a household name since I was in School. I still remember the arguments that the african guys in my year would have about who was better Lebron or McGrady and this was in 2006 or 2007.

I still say the MOST SKILLED player I have ever seen....pound for pound...was Isiah Thomas of the Pistons.
Just a true maestro.
I still remember the time he scored something like 25 points in the 3rd or 4th quarter in the NBA finals on a badly sprained ankle. Could barely walk. I mean legit could not walk.
He had the heart of a champion....and I don't believe LeBron has that. Although as dawg wrote earlier...I remember the game he scored 20 straight against the Pistons. Mostly 3 pointers as I recall. Was pretty amazing.Words to live by...."You're at the shopping mall with your girl but a hot chick walks by. Are you going to look at the hot girl? No. You use your peripheral vision."

Only player I like is Luka because hes actually entertaining.
90s/early 2000s was peak NBA. Now its meh.
Season too long they should reduce to 40 games.

Agreed, 3-4 steps are now ok. Lebron can literally run people over and cry if it's not a foul w/ and 1 opportunity.
The game has completely changed. No team chemistry and barely any team play. Fundamentals? Who cares. Just carry the ball on every play multiple times and continue to travel with step backs that are unguardable. That's why the 3 ball has increased so dramatically.
Defense isn't even played anymore. So you can't compare Lebron to players in the past based on his scoring when those stats are mute anyway. There's far more indicators that show Jordan is the goat in almost every category when you account for percentages of your contribution to the team, not totals.★★★ A State of Trance Crew ★★★

Anyone who says MJ is the GOAT and it isn't close are casuals or they view MJ as a mythological figure. MJ ain't Michael Phelps or Usain Bolt. Funnily enough Kobe was also mythologised, likely because he was on the Lakers and was a high volume scoring SG who was also really athletic and killer from the mid-range, a decent amount of casuals have him as a GOAT candidate and the best player of the 2000s when he really only has an argument as the best player in the league for one or two seasons and even then it's not the strongest argument.

This. He is the man that the NBA desperately wanted to be the GOAT throughout his entire career, but their golden boy never performed as legendarily as they said he would be. He's a good player and a freak of nature, but NBA history is full of good players that were freaks of nature.
I just find it hilarious how some cucked losers like the OP seriously have their ego tied in with this man.

Such a weird argument, the only players that were good when he played with them were Kyrie, Wade, Bosh, AD & Love. The rest were roleplayers by the time they played with him.
Do you think a team of Westbrook, Rose, Allen, Carmello, Wallace, Shaq, Howard would be good if they were all the versions of themselves that played with Lebron? They're all HOF so surely they'd be the best team of all time. Nope, they'd be a lottery team.
It's also especially weird considering MJ's team during his retirement won 55 games and took the Eastern champs to 7 games.Last edited by hobo4president; 02-02-2023 at 01:57 PM.

Scoring is up but games played is down. The most important thing for reaching the scoring title is total points scored in a season and it's just not going to be reached if superstars continue to sit 20% of the season, unless someone starts averaging like 40. That said, there's validity to the idea Lebron is keeping up his production due to the recent scoring inflation in the NBA, he's averaging more points now than he did in his prime apart from 1 season.

Meh, LeBron is certainly the greatest player of his generation and one of the best of all-time (probably 2nd in my book, as much as I hate the guy as a person), but it's way too hard to compare players across generations. The game is so different now. Even when Michael was playing, the game was played through the center and he was one of the first players to show that you can win through guard play. Nowadays, the game is just a glorified 3 PT shooting contest and nobody really tries anymore on defense, which is why I don't really watch anymore outside of playoffs.
Between that and this bullchit "load management" nonsense, I don't watch much basketball anymore. This primadonna attitude and hyper focus on building a brand rather than just playing and competing is why I've stopped watching most sports nowadays, even NFL. Congrats to Bron, but I'm sticking with the EPL and UFC as my sports to watch lol.

MJ is overated as fk. He never manage to beat prime LA celtics or pistons. Every finals in played, the Bulls team was way better.
People forget quickly that Jordan losed to the Sidney Moncrief's bucks. Not gonna speak about the second three peat bulls. Bron never played in a team that good. Not even close.
What was the guards MJ played against? Starks? Miller ? My accountant? My gym trainer? Lmao
Not to add Scottie took Magic and Barkley in the finals
Meanwhile Bron played KD (top 3 SF) kawhi (top 10 SF) pierce, melo, etc...
People talk about how weak was the eastern conf. I want to say how weak was 90's nba. 80's was goat and sad enough for Jordancel, i was unable to even make the finals.
MJ is just a product of the USA softpower. But i allow him to be rated 2nd of all time.

Players try on defense the problem is defense is harder now. With the stylistic shift to off-ball movement and 3 point shooting and the leniency in carrying and moving screen calls the NBA is ridiculously offense favoured. You can't just clog the lane while the opposing team bricks mid-range shots anymore.Hey idiot, Im knot knowing his style. Maybe his free. MJ played over 300 games less than Lebron. Give him those games with his 30 point average and he would be over 4,000 points more than Lebron. So if that's your argument, it's flawed. Jordan quit because he had reached the mountain top (6 championships) enough times and won every award you can win. He literally felt like he could win the title every year if he wanted. Lebron can't say that and keeps chasing the ghost because he knows himself that is a huge mark on his record vs. the greats. But above all, the display of him rolling around on the ground at his age and after 19 years in the league, just because he didn't get a foul call.......it was completely humiliating. I can promise you that none of the names mentioned in this thread of greats, would have ever acted a fool like that. He is the greatest "biotch" of all time.
