I'm making this thread to shed some light on older that people who haven't gotten into 30's-80's cinema might enjoy. I'll try post movies that are easily available and update the thread once a week or so.
CASH ON DEMAND (1961)
Part Christmas Carol, part heist movie, this tight, tense and claustrophobic 80 minute film stars the great Peter Cushing as a bank manager being held up for money.

On The Beach 1959
American post-apocalyptic science fiction drama film from United Artists staring Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire, and Anthony Perkins. Produced and directed by Stanley Kramer it is based on Nevil Shute's 1957 novel "On the Beach" depicting the aftermath of a nuclear war. Unlike in the novel, no one is assigned blame for starting the war, which attributes global annihilation to fear compounded by accident or misjudgment.

The Gunfighter (1950)
When people talk about the great westerns of the 50's The Gunfighter is not mentioned as often as it ought to be. Here, Gregory Peck stars as man trying to cut loose of his gunslinging ways and reunite with his family, but his reputation proves hard to shake.

If you are a Star Wars fan, then watch Dam Busters from 1955. Based on a true story about British RAF taking out a german dam. George Lucas got a lot of scenes from this, some are almost exact scenes and the wording is barely changed.

I really enjoyed The Mountain (1956) starring Spencer Tracy and Robert Wagner. I believe its based on a true story as well. Cool footage of the alps etc. this may be in b&w and technicolor(i seem to remember watching it in b&w but every clip i see is color)
