The documents obviously are not "missing" because the politicians that have them are reportedly turning them in. Not sure why they are not just being shredded and leaving sleeping dogs lie?

Classified documents are controlled. They know who’s are missing. Not surprised they decided to find some at Pences house to deflect from the Biden fiasco. They should all be publicly hung for treason, that’d send a message.

I don't think the controls on them are very tight. Maybe the original document is tracked but copies being made and moved are impossible to track. I don't think we have the information as to if any of the documents found were copies and what the subject matter was. Granted it was a long time ago and I've held a DOD Secret clearance and DOE top secret clearance, but control was limited.

this thread is not about Republicans, it's about ineffective bureaucrats, civil servants, and government services. Their inability to do their jobs is a problem in the U.S. and Canada.

The real issue here is the tracking and accountability of said documents, which is the responsibility of government employees paid via taxes to do a job they can't handle or won't do. Now our tax money will go to consultants to identify and recommend corrective actions that are already known but not practiced or enforced.

100% time to put the message across, I worked in the classified wold holding a secret security clearance for 23 years and a stint at Top Secret.

Here's a post I made about the initial finds of the Trump classified ordeal, but it applies to all..

It is bad if it is true. When this story first broke I had a hard job believing these documents were removed from the location, I still do. I held a Secret security clearance for 23 years with a brief stint at TS. For anyone who held a Secret security clearance or above, they know the protocols, care, control and custody that goes into the handling of classified materials and equipment. They are also fully aware of the ramifications of improper control or beaching these protocols and rules.

Because of this I have a difficult time believing these documents were removed and stored in such an insecure manner. If I even began to explain the measures taken to guard this stuff most wouldn't believe it, it's tight, very tight. Most of this information is on a need to know basis, I worked alongside folks that in some cases didn't know what I knew and vice versa. Items are counted and page checked several times a day. I worked in a secure complex, guards at the main entrance and security combo's to gain access to other areas and materials were further behind locked safes etc..

You don't just photocopy classified material, there is a control process and trust me, it isn't done alone. In a lot of cases it's 2 person control when it comes to this stuff. If these documents were in Trumps possession and they are what they say they are he isn't the only one who was aware of it, I'll tell you that much for free.

If this were an airman or a worker bee that done this they would already be in jail. This kind of stuff sickens me, I lost many hours of sleep working in the classified world, it's a pressure cooker, going home knowing things that you can't even speak about with your own family. One of the happiest days of my life was when I turned that security clearance in and I was no longer in charge of any classified equipment or materials.
