I don't need to explain anything about HHH here. The thread title says it all.
2000's pretty much belonged to HHH, he was part of the most important stuff in 2010's...I don't remember any wrestler that worked the entire decade around him.

Why is HHH not considered in the same tier as Hogan, Rock, Austin, Cena, HBK, Taker?

He would appear to have some supporters who would say he's a great.
I would call him above average.
I remember watching a title match once where Alberto Del Rio was champ. Also, wasn't Miz the champ once or twice? When you realise that guys like that were champ you can understand why some people might appreciate HHH more.
And dont even get me started on manlets as 'heavyweight' champs ie. Mysterio."and when it had blown itself out, but one white man lived aboard the Venturer, and that was the blood stained giant about whom the chanting blacks thronged to cast themselves prostrate on the bloody deck and beat their heads against the boards in an ecstasy of hero-worship."
"But I am not such a dog as to leave a white woman in the clutches of a black man;"

# of world titles HHH won when he was not sitting in the booking committee or married to the Boss' daughter: Zero.
He's an upper card talent, good enough to hang with all time greats, had one of the best physiques of all time, was a good size and a competent worker. He's also a snoozer on the mic and abused his backstage clout. He needed Chyna's charisma and presence to initially get over, despite a massive push (although he was digging out of a hole from being punished for the curtail call).
Overall a B+ player who by virtue of being married to Stephanie, was treated like he's an A+.[QUOTE=Bodhy;1660771503]Q. What's the difference between DDSF1's Jewish relatives and a gingerbread man?

he's not on their level. he booked himself to kayfabe be, but everyone knows he never really moved the needle. fans tuned out en masse when the show was centered around him.
nobody ever paid money to see triple h wrestle."Sometimes I go about in pity for myself, and all the while, a great wind carries me across the sky"-Ojibwe saying

This.
He knew how to work a match and had a few key moments that were pretty cool. however, he himself did not have "IT" to be a stand alone star. It was my opinion that he lacked real charisma , which he knew he lacked, so he would position himself with someone that did.
first - chyna
second - hbk
then he surrounded himself with DX , which somehow blended with kane and stephanie at one point which was wierd.
later in his career if someone was 'over' triple h would find a way to get a feud with them going. Theres alot of examples of that, but the one that stands out is CM Punk- he didnt want to work with him when he was coming up, but when he was really connecting with fans hhh pitched a wrestlemania match between the two which punk turned down.
Basically, he latched onto the wrestlers the fans were talking about, to get the fans talking about him.

He was never the alpha dog as far as drawing power went.
The only other person on that list that might not have ever been the #1 for a given period of time was Taker but his unique character, WM streak, and unquestioned respect in regards to staying out of drama/politics puts him in that tier of alpha dogs.

Here is my test of wrestlers. At the top tier You have the people that transcended the genre. This is Hulk Hogan, Austin, Rock, Cena, Andre the Giant, and just barely Undertaker. My test for this is does my mom know who these people are? She doesn't know a thing about wrestling, so if they are big enough name that mom can recognize, they transcended the sport.
HHH is the tier lower. Theses are the people that did a whole lot in the ring, but only wrestling fans would really appreciate them. Casual fans maybe slightly heard of them. This is HHH, Flair, Bret, Sting, Roman, HBK, etc.
Below that are guys that were main event adjacent, but only wrestling fans would appreciate. Eddie, Benoit, Scott Hall, Angle, etc.
Below that are mid carders like, Cody Rhodes, Koko B Ware, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, etc
Below that are people in your Boy Stable. All the OSW fans will get that.Last edited by SmithMachineGuy; 01-23-2023 at 08:53 PM.

Because he isn’t?
As much as Paul tries to recreate history and pecking order via video packages, he was a B+ player. This fuking guy is waiting to declare himself the first 3x WWE hall of famer because those things matter to him. Waltman is worthy enough to be one also given the low HOF bar, but you know that isn’t happening.Last edited by BrickEX; 01-23-2023 at 08:57 PM.

imo to be considered one of the greats you need to be a great face
the franchise is always built around the top face of the company (i know reigns is the top guy right now as a heel but that's one of the reason's the business is in the chitter)
hhh was a great heel, never a great face
much easier to get people to hate you than love you; see reigns

more than one thing can be true. plenty of valid criticisms. however you guys are downplaying him hard ITT
one bit I'll add - as usual with wrestling when a guy hangs around forever you don't appreciate them as much. Austin burned hot for a few years and was gone. Rock ditto. Cena gets way more respect now that he's got one foot (both feet) out the door. Meanwhile a guy like Randy Orton or in this case Hunter just doesn't get quite the love. 'how can i miss you when you never go away'

Great tier list and concept. I have small disagreements with the placing. I might put Flair at the top tier, a lot of non-wrestling fans knew who he was and the "Whoo!" was popular for a time in sports and chit.
I also disagree with HHH being right under in the tier where wrestling fans know and appreciate him. Do we? We certainly know him, we also know his run at the top in the early 2000s was called the "Reign of Terror" for a reason. He buried everyone he worked with, opened every RAW with a boring boring boring long monologue and was just bad stuff all around.
I think his selfishness and abuse of his backstage power actually kept him from that tier. Had he just been a talented B+ usually working near the top or with top guys, then helped make RVD, Booker, Benoit and whoever else he buried (before actually making Batista) then he might have been in that tier. As it stands, at least with me, you have to subtract the negatives from his positives -- and he's got a lot of baggage to subtract with.
I'd put him with Eddie, Benoit, Hall and Angle. Below Sting, Bret, HBK.[QUOTE=Bodhy;1660771503]Q. What's the difference between DDSF1's Jewish relatives and a gingerbread man?

Hmmm... that's interesting one. Batista has made some main stream success, and people know he used to be a wrestler, but I don't think he is super big in either field. As an actor he is not exactly the draw like the Rock or even Cena. He is a secondary actor in movies where other people have top billing. My mom might know Drax, but she won't know Batista. As a wrestler, he's kind of in that second or maybe even third tier. Yeah he was champ, but he was only a big deal to wrestling fans.^^^()()GERMANIC CREW()()^^^

This. Someone link a single great HHH promo. Bret Hart cut x10 better promos during his anti-USA run, but everyone dumps on his mic abilities, somehow HHH escapes this criticism despite probably being the worst guy on the mic to be given as much time as he was.
Someone like the UT, who is bad on the mic, worked around it. He emphasized his over gimmick, kept it short and sweet and had good matches, the best entrance probably ever and looked like a 6'9" badass. He didn't cut long promos, beyond a short time - and it didn't work so they stopped him doing it.
HHH was the Emperor with no clothes. Cutting chit after chit boring promo week after week and nobody had the balls to tell him it was awful.[QUOTE=Bodhy;1660771503]Q. What's the difference between DDSF1's Jewish relatives and a gingerbread man?

Triple h to me seemed like someone who couldnt organically create a moment independently - or would cut someone off at the knees who was gaining momentum. See:Booker t, Steiner, RVD, and even tommy dreamer who he refused to do a program with
When undertaker basically murdered mankind in hell in a cell
triple h had to have a similar match with foley awhile later
the rock had a classic match with hogan, ending with a face turn and show of respect with an unplanned handshake and hug
triple h had a smackdown match with hogan ending with , similarly, a show of respect with a hug and all the trimmings. It just seemed like he was a mid tier guy who was allowed to do what he wanted due to his relationships.

I never really liked HHH. What about him stands out other than the physique he used to have?
His only claim to fame is catching the eye of Stephanie and turning her into a sexual deviant.
Nevermind the fact that he sounds like he's on the spectrum when he gives interviews.Modern liberalism is morally bankrupt and demonic.

He is good but he can't be considered on the top tier level with Hogan, Cena, Austin and Rock for a variety of reasons.
The main reason actually having nothing to do with Triple H himself, the other guys mentioned above are simply just at the real top elite level due to how good they were.
Triple H is still good, just not at their level.RUTHLESS AGGRESSION
