It's literally just a generic zombie show so far with mediocre everything. lol @ 9.5 on imdb.

Not saying it won't get good, but there was nothing special about the episode. I never played the game so maybe you guys are just being fangirls.

It's called world building and it's necessary to get people to feel connected to the story. I was sitting with a bunch of adults watching it and even the chicks were glued to their seats.

Would be pretty cool if HBO actually made a spin-off set in the early days of TLOU.

Honestly I wouldn't mind a tv show or a book about the early days of the outbreak and it touches upon stuff like how governments fell, how Fedra and the Fireflies came about, Joel and Tommie's early days of survival and being a hunter and all the fukked up chit that they did. How Joel met Tess. How the infected mutated from runners to clickers and bloatlords etc.

I think it'd be an extremely interesting premise. Maybe the TV show might do something similar in seasons 3 or 4 to bridge the gap to when the next game comes out because the third game is gonna take a loooooong time.


TLOU 2 could actually be split into two seasons because of how fkkn long that game is and how much story content they can touch upon.

Here's my preditction.

Seaon 1 = TLOU 1

Season 2 and season 3 start filming this year and will cover TLOU 2.

Season 2 is released in 2025

Season 3 is released a year later in 2026

Everyone and their grandmas bought a PS5 over the previous years and are ready to play TLOU 3, as the teaser drops after Season 3.

TLOU3 is released near the end of the PS5 cycle in 2027 and all hell breaks loose.

I.e. they will omit the part where Joel finds out what happened to the other potential vaccine candidates (killed and no vaccine was ever found), the whole point of saving Ellie from the surgeons in the game. They might remove that detail completely so when Joel is killed off everyone is glad. Neil Cuckman stuff.
There's no way in hell Cuckman will change the story so Joel lives. That would mean admitting he fked up with the story writing

I watched the first episode and then immediately started replaying TLOU Part 1 on my PS5.

The show isn't anywhere near the level of the game. It's decent, but the big moments are so much better in the game than in the show for some reason. We'll see if that changes.

Let's be real: that actress playing ellie is not carrying this show without Pedro pascal. I don't think she's that bad personally, I liked her in game of thrones. But Pedro is the draw here, and I just don't see the show being very interesting to people without him, especially those who didn't play the games and aren't knowledgeable about the story.

You underestimate Cuckmans ego, he isn't going to change it much from the game, if he changes anything it will be in a way to make Abby's actions even more justified.

For me further success will depend on how well Joel and Ellie relationship builds up and if the actress can pull it off.

Even though it was good and did things right so far seems a bit overrated by media and fanboys, at it's core it ain't something we haven't seen before.

With the hype it now has it just needs to be average and it would still be popular.

TWD pilot was one of the best man 100%.

The first season was goated. Haven’t watched it in many years but I assume they’re still doing the same thing over and over as always. Can’t believe the show went on for so long. Should’ve been 3-4 seasons tops imo.

watched it yesterday and really enjoyed it. they nailed tess and marlene. sarah acted well too tom looks like he will fit the role as well. i was pleasantly surprised at how everything they added that was not in the game was actually a great addition. the world building looks very promising as well.

main gripe is joel and ellie. pedro pascal is a great actor but his southern accent sux. i hope he improves it over the season.

ellie is the biggest miss because of her appearance and because she acts like a rabid dog too often. bella ramsey did a good job of imitating ellie's voice and tone at times but her downe syndrome face just aint it man.

Yeah I agree. The walking dead sort of set the standard for zombie shows. The pilot of twd is next level.

The walking dead also had a ton of source material to base the story from, the last of us doesn't have remotely as much to follow. So depending how they do their seasons they could run out of material to follow. If season 1 of tlou is game 1, and season 2 is game 2, wtf they gunna do for season 3?

Either way, still a great pilot. I'd rather see it end after 2 seasons than drag out for 11+ seasons like the walking dead. That show is a joke now tbh. The evelutiom of Rick was one of the best character arcs in TV imo before the show overstayed its welcome

Yeah brahs, have to say I loved episode one and overall I was pretty happy with some of the changes they made to translate to TV. I'd argue some changes were even better (Joel's watch fixed as opposed to a new watch)

I also rolled my eyes at the "diversified" casting for Sarah but I gotta say, she knocked it out of the park. That one scene hit like a truck.

My only real negative is I'm not fully convinced of Ellie's actress.

Anyways, what would you rate episode 1?

8.5, no actual complaints, I just think that the other episodes will definitely top the opening.

Great casting, great acting - yes, even Bella -, great production value, so it's all bueno. Didn't play the game, looked up a no commentary run for comparison and yeah, the show is definitely a massive improvement so far. Watched it with lil bro, he loved it as well.

Looking forward to the next ep.

The appeal of TLOU was never on its story and plot, if I recall. It was the development of the characters. Particularly Joel and Ellie.

Kinda cringe at sonycels saying it's a good game. You can have the best graphics, best gameplay, best sound design etc but if the story sucks in a story based game the game is trash. Cuckman ruined one of the best franchises in the history of gaming and it will never recover unless Part 3 is a prequel to 1, which would be pretty dope tbf seeing the world go to chit and Joel slowly becoming a hardened shell of his former self.
