I was just in Calgary on the 3rd for the WBFF competition, it was a lot of fun, my sister was competing... I was just there for moral support! Great city, would love to drive my car around there!
I don't think I would do well in the city however, too many bakeries and awesome restaurants!
I'm from Fort McMurray, have been for 22 years... Oh God, help me :-)
It does make dieting easy however, because we only have like... five different restaurants. Haha, eventually you get sick of eating out!

Frenzy is a good word to describe it, lol, I do the same thing, even when I go to Edmonton... I spent $800 bucks at the Chinook mall within 45 minutes of shopping, and most of that time I spent wandering around, lost... We have one mall in Fort Mac, and I'd say that half of it consists of a Zeller's, and then it's mostly barber shops and cell phone booths, haha. Apparently we don't need clothes, everyone just wears blue coveralls up here!
My sister lived there for a few years when she was going to school at SAIT. She had her competition, and was fat loading the day before, so she went to the Cheesecake Cafe and got two different cakes. I'm glad that we don't have anything like that up here in Fort Mac. I can just imagine the bad day binges... Haha, whole cheesecakes... ugh! :-)

Well next time unless in town you don't have to come all the way into Calgary for shopping, you can just stop off at the Cross Iron Mills outside of Airdrie.. Supposedly bigger than West Edmonton Mall...but I doubt it.
I wonder if any type of strip mall would be much of a hit, could be a booming business or a total fail, 64,000 ppl & half or more of them in the sand pits..
I've actually never been to Fort Mac, I want to see all the snow you guys get!
P.S.
There is also a Canadian thread too.
