crushed a 405 bench already. Got over my lower body injury late last year and am starting to train that again after being out of it for a few years (maybe one or two days a month). Squatting 315 for 3 sets of 5 pretty easily. Not sure if I want to push it but I'd love to get my squat and DL numbers up. 500 squat 600 DL would be sick, but I bet they're currently more like 400 / 500 right now.
inb4 ****g0t comments but I dont really want huge legs. Plan to compete in the physique category and don't need them, don't like the risk of injury again, and they make suits and dress clothes uncomfortable lol
but i love the idea of having strong legs so fuk me idk what to do
What would you guys say is an equivalent OHP to seated press #? I dont do it standing; I like the stability more during seated and I need to grow my shoulders. Pretty sure I can only do somewhere between 205-225 seated for 1.ASOT Crew

Would like to put up 585/455/725 at a meet in the second half of the year at 242. Also want to do a strongman comp at some point but all my overhead lifts blow. Need to put in a lot of work there if I want to have a shot at winning.Mets Packers Knicks UCONN

Impressed with the amount of 405+ plate benchers in here and we’re still on page 1.
Can any of you big benchers give me tips or programs to look into? I’m willing to eat my way there but absolutely not take any juice. I came this far and want to see it through natty. Thank you in advanceBest gym lifts

Did not feel like doing smolov jr today. Have been feeling run down all week so here’s an ugly ass 365x1 from literally an hour ago. My grip was a bit too close for my liking and it makes sense as it felt like an rpe 10

Yes and no.
I've explained it many times before, but essentially they're two different things and you train differently for them. I decided a long time ago that I don't really care about my raw numbers as long as my equipped numbers continue going up. The biggest difference is in bench. I barely ever do a heavy raw bench to my chest. I train heavy upper back and heavy triceps as well as heavy reps in a bench shirt. When I was benching 500 equipped I had my best raw bench(380). Now I'm benching mid 600s and my raw bench is probably below 350. I just don't care to work on it.
Squat is a bit different, my raw squat has slowly gone up as my geared squat goes up. But I was squatting 500 raw when I was still 600s in gear, and now I squat mid to high 500s raw and my geared squat is around 800.
Also I've trained for equipped lifting for a very long time. Over 15 years. So I'm very good technically in equipment, which leads to higher weight lifted. One of my main training partners is a raw 242 lifter with a 2000 total. We put briefs on him and he got smooshed with a 600 squat, he squats high 700s raw. But if he wanted to be in gear (he doesn't), we would have him squatting 1000 within a year, probably sooner.
That's a good bench brah. Only thing I would try to work on is get tighter in your lower body, push your hips up to the bar the whole time. You're sinking and trying to heave or pop your hips up to drive the bar, and that almost never works. Better to be more solid and stable for the whole lift.I'm not DrewDarden

This thread depresses me. Im out of the strenght game for a long time.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

I'm enhanced, so take this for whatever it's worth, but learn the difference between training for a max and just working out in the gym. There are so many different things you can change like feet placement, hip drive, proper back arch, and locking out with your scapula that can make very large jumps in your bench.

This is exactly the kind of critique I’m looking for. I appreciate the feedback brah!
Lower body on bench has always felt like **** to me. I’ve heard I should be flexing my glutes, quads and should be driving my legs towards the top of the bench. As far as my hips go I think I’m too concerned with my glutes coming off the bench. Looking at the vid again you’re right, I’m sinking and losing tightness. I’ll work on it for sure. Started benching more frequently because of smolov jr and I understand it’s going to take a lot of practice.
Please keep the feedback coming guys. Thanks!Best gym lifts
