Alpine should be absolutely ****ing PISSED that the FIA wanted a full standing restart there.
IDGAF if it was all by the rules, they should be raising hell.
The FIA’s decision turned it into a drag race with only 2 laps left. They knew full well there would be no less than the chaos we just saw.
Edit: Now they decide to do what they should have done in the first place and do a rolling restart. (Except now it will just end under safety car since it’s only 1 lap left.)
Dude they absolutely ****ed Alpine HARD.
Had they done this in the first place, both their cars would have scored some great points.
So the FIA made a dog**** decision, kicked like 4 cars out the race and caused an ass of money in damage, to simply end the race under safety car.Last edited by R3L3NTL3SS; 04-02-2023 at 12:37 AM.

I'm still watching slightly delayed, after the clusterfuk restart but before the finish. The FIA is going to have to change the rules, a full standing restart with only 2 laps left is crazy and should never happen again.
Edit: omg the carlos 5 sec penalty, this race will be talked about for a long time, what a farce from the FIA. Looking forward to the reaction videos this week.Last edited by superfunk; 04-02-2023 at 01:57 AM.

The official F1 youtube channel is very fast with highlights: https://www.youtube.com/@Formula1
I signed up to the official F1TV app but not sure where it can be watched in full for free.

Wow, Max's starts have been clearly his weakest point.
I will tell my biased is towards hating mercedes. But dear lord does Russel make me hate them even more. How's he bitching about his teammate racing him when Max is pushing the pace. Seeing him in 8th place for standings is enjoyable.
I actually didn't mind the standing start. I think a time penalty when you're forcing the time at the end of the race is BS. I'd like to see them change the rules to Red Flag = Standing restart with at least a Green, White, Checkered flag to end the race.
If it doesn't end with one of those you do a Rolling Start, Green, White, Checkered.
Ending a eventful race this way is pretty lame IMO.

depends on how vested you get into it. If you get the full fledge racing chair, steering wheel, that is very real like. That is usually the most difficult to set up and calibrate correctly.
Just the game is pretty legit. Way better then the dumb F1 game they came out with where you spend more time doing social media stuff then actually racing xD."I dont get paid on sundays, those are my fun days. I get paid for the other days" Ray Lewis

I can't find confirmation anywhere, but I heard on a podcast that they're changing Sprint layouts.
Basically instead of the Sprint result being your starting position for the race, they will now be treated as two 100% separate events and each will have their own qualifying, which will replace FP2 on the sprint weekend.
This will incentivize drivers to actually push hard on Sprint races, because they would be allowed to fix the cars if they break before the next quali, unlike the way the Sprint weekends currently go due to Parc Ferme conditions.

Calling it "net zero" is just a virtue signal buzzword (suicide is the only true net zero solution if people are being honest), but the overall philosophy regarding budget limits I think is a good thing overall. I basically stopped watching F1 during Mercedes domination. It just became like, who cares?
Grid penalties help mix up the field, cost caps help pull up lagging teams for development.
I think an obvious cost reduction is to have 1 person per wheel during pit stops the way they do in F2, this also adds more human skill to the equation. Eliminating tire warmers will add a TON of driver skill to the races.
Gordon Murray suggested to ban radios, which would be INSANE because drivers would need to know their own situation entirely regarding pit stops, tire degradation, and damage. They could still use pit boards to communicate to the drivers, but that is incredibly limited compared to radios (obviously)
Technological innovation has reached a peak where no one is impressed by it. A new computer chip that can interpret how much a driver is sweating and send the data to a race engineer isn't impressive.... Drivers making their own call as to when they're coming in for new tires IS impressive.Last edited by HMFIC_BROWSIN; 04-05-2023 at 07:52 AM.
