Bought FF7 remake on steam current sale for $40. Never played FF7.

It's still a great game though it has some flaws that are sometimes overlooked. Enjoy mane.

CH 14.. = go find some orphans.. go find some chochobos.. other dumb ****.. which you could MAYBE get away with at the beginning of the story.. not the end

Dropped the game after that a few months ago.. and didn't come back yet

I didn't pay for it so not that big a deal.. beautiful game/cutscenes with women who actually look hot.. but it felt more like a movie to me.. honestly i might catch up on the story via youtube.. rather then playing the 6 or 7 chapters left

Uhh, prepare to be disappointed, it's a partially completed remke as in like barely 20% of the original story.

If you care about the FF7 story, then play FF7 either on PS1, PC, or emulator. It's vastly superior to FF7 Remake.

If you just want the better graphics and newer combat and the story is second to that, then sure, have at it.

The original FF7's gameplay is a bit dated though, not sure if you would enjoy it. But the story, atmosphere, characters are all great. There's some mods you can download to update the graphics. 1997 was a weird time because 3D graphics was just introduced and they looked absolutely terrible in hindsight. And the random encounters are a bit frustrating although not as bad as some as the other FF games.

Original FF7's dated art direction and blocky 3D aesthetic will forever hold it back from GOAT tier. Remake has probably the greatest combat mechanic in JRPG, but due to it only covering 1 part of ONE DISK of 4 LMAO it ruins the experience. Definitely play the OG first bro.

Honestly the combat is pretty good. Only place it really suffers is when you're up against flying enemies and the AI doesn't work the best to engage them with your melee weapons in the sky.

Other than that it's pretty fun, a mix of button combos and also tactical moments where you think about what special you want and what area you want to hit. The AI controls your allies but you can switch to any of them. Basically you only play as one person at a time and the AI controls the other two.

I def have some negatives with this game but combat is not one of them.

In fact one of my worst gameplay complaints is the materia system. You change out party members quite often and you have to constantly play around in the menu to manually transfer materia between members. It's dumb and time consuming. They should have definitely had a profile system or something that makes this easier to do.

Enjoy! I heavily recommend completing the original first. I haven't even completed the remake yet, but I've heard thats it diverges from the original and is also a new story. You'll miss out on the easter eggs and differences if you do this one first.

If you want to make the original easy, look up how to get the Knights of the Round materia, and steamroll until credits.

Used to watch my sister play FF6 or 7 on PS1. I never liked it tbh, I don't like those turn based battles and the whole thing seemed pretty cringe even as a child. I was much more engrossed watching her play Tomb Raider or Resident Evil 1 even though it scared me lols
