Hey all,
Seeing who wants to jump on this thread to share about their cutting starting Jan 1st. I am personally planning on 12 week cut starting Jan 1st. In the past these threads have been super beneficial for motivation and advice. Some 6 years ago I used the BB forums to help cut down 30 lbs. Fast forward to today and I am a father of two with a busy work life and I am in need of a sustainable cut to get my back down to a lower weight.
Please check-in below if you want to get going on this!

We normally have a three monthly thread going, so maybe change/add the title to Jan-Mar and it could be the new one?
I'm in. Need to get back into my best suit ASAP as I'm going to be more customer facing from April/May when I should be getting a promotion.A.L.L. Leukemia 2009 - 2012

Maybe 6 years ago I really put in a lot of effort and went from 188 down to 165 or so (I am 5'10). I was able to keep the weight off for a long time, with a little bit of fluctuation. Then I got married, had kids, and went and got my Master's degree. The culmination of all of that stress and lifestyle change resulted in my getting back to my starting weight again.
I work from home now and have two kids. Kids are always snacking and getting into the pantry and the weekends can be long without leaving the house. This makes is extremely tough to not graze all day. I am really needing to make some sort of massive mental shift so I can lose again. When I had a successful cut several years ago, I was a single bachelor with no real responsibilities. It was relatively easy to cut weight.
So, if there are any parents here or anyone in a similar boat, please post some advice and/or tips and tricks. My plan is to lift weights 5 days a week. I find that lifting weights actually seems to blunt my appetite a bit. Intense cardio tends to make me ravenous at night. I usually eat a bit more on cardio days and still try to remain in a deficit, but playing the numbers game can be hit or miss.Dec 1 2014: 188.5 lbs

Well, the cut starts in 2 days. In preparation for this cut I have stopped eating food after 7:30 PM to get ready for the change coming. If I can sleep through the night on a deficit then I know I am in total control. That has always been my downfall. This morning I weighted in at 189.4.
My plan is to start my first week at 2500 calories then reduce down to 2300 until I stop losing. I used to IIFYM calorie calculator to get my numbers. I am also planning to lift weights 5 days a week and two rest days where I will do moderate cardio. I generally weigh in twice a week to check progress.
What all are you folks planning to do?Dec 1 2014: 188.5 lbs

I think I am getting into the routine of falling asleep in a deficit. That is by FAR the hardest part of cutting for me. I am finding if I do IF my energy levels stay pretty constant throughout the day. I think I weighed in at 188.2 for my first check. Will weigh again mid week next week.

Goal: 190 lbs @ 10 % to 12 % body fat, 37.5 lbs loss total
Duration: 16 weeks of calorie deficit
Starting physique
January 9 - 227.5 lbs
January 16 - 224.5 lbs - I dropped 3 lbs, I expect this to be mostly water weight from cutting out carbs except for bananas.
I track everything on the Cronometer App.
Eating on a calorie restriction but making sure I'm getting my protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, etc.
Cheers
*edit* my scale was broken, 224.5 lbs, not 220 lbsLast edited by Camarija; 01-17-2023 at 08:03 PM.

Notes
Lost 6.1 lbs this last week. Almost all of that is water weight from cutting carbs. Still happy with the progress. 26.4 lbs left to lose, with 13 weeks to go. Definitely felt light headed and weak this week. I had to drastically reduce my workout volume and frequency but it's still enough to maintain my muscle mass.
Thanks brother! It was between that and Broseidon hahahaLast edited by Camarija; 01-23-2023 at 11:54 AM.
