How? It was stated many times in this thread that only a believer's soul is given eternal life; if a non-believer's soul is tortured for all of eternity, then that too is eternal life and suggests the Catholics are correct that every soul is eternal.

Definitely not all teachers have the right motive. The best of men is still just man.

During the time of Jesus in the book of revelation He rebuked 5/7th of the churches and called them to repent.

So 2000 years ago, 80% of the church didnt even understand their ABC's and were not ready for XYZ.

One of the things I don't like about catholic churchs is they dont teach their follow how to read the bible.

I really dont want to just knock on the catholic church, but theres tons of churchs out there that consider themselves Christians, but are far from it.

Its important Christians call out the fake teachers.

For example we know the first 5 books were written to the Jewish tribes,

So if we took something out of there and applied it to Christians, by definition that would be out of context.

A lot of outsiders fail to see the differences between old Covenant versus New Covenant. Something applied to the old will contradict something that's applied to the new.

That's why context is so important, you can make the bible say anything you want it to (out of context)

They say one of the worse things to do is read just one verse and base something off of just that one verse,
Its important we take a step back and take a deeper look.

Where are the Johnny-come-lately bible books to which you refer? I need some new reading. Agree with your point about Catholics not reading the bible, though. I never really understood that. We read three random bible passages a week at church and they tell me that after three full years we will have read the whole bible. How does that work when the hymnal is shorter than the bible and half of it is songs?

Anyone can read the bible, that isn't in question. Catholics, unlike other branches of Christianity, aren't really encouraged to sit there and read the bible. There are bible study groups still and you read the bible in church, but only the chosen stories for that week. You won't really see a Catholic carrying around a bible or having a favorite bible verse, whereas the Protestants and Baptists I know are all about the bible.

Regardless of what the catholic church as an organization has done historically, which obviously was some crazy shiet, the catholic bible is still the true cannon translation of the original christian scripture by the direct followers of christ.

So how can that book be incorrect? If that is your contention then logically you do not believe in the original teachings of christ.

But saying your gifts to the church is how your love ones can be saved is just wrong.

A priest saying your sins are attoned by saying hail marries are also wrong, where in the bible is any of this backed up?
