I don’t believe there is a next gen update for the PS4 since it isn’t…well, next gen. This update would run at like 10 fps on a PS4 Pro lol.

Unless he means if you put a Ps4 GOTY disc in ps5 can you DL the ps5 update. In which case, yea that’s how it works.

PS4 gets version 4.0 which isnt the new graphics but probably includes all the other minor changes.


For all us PS5cels the ps4 version was showing up in the store first before ps5 and it was very confusing

Gotcha. I just think the non RT looks really good still. And the difference in fps is night and day between both so I'd personally just enjoy the chit out of the game with the taxing stuff turned on. Mane I didn't expect my TV to look so fuking big in my room but damn son I'm having a blast lol. Did all the side missions and now back on the main mission to find info on the griffin.

RTX is subtle, you dont even notice it constantly but every now and then you will be like damn those shadows look amazing or especially the lighting effects during dusk/dawn and the mist/fog, you will be playing as usual and just notice damn that looks really good.

I play PS5 with the RTX on. maybe for a boss fight that is really hard I would take it off. The dynamic resolution though sometimes you can see it changing and it looks like chit for a second, like especially running through forests.

I just can't do the 30fps man and this one especially feels really janky compared to other 30fps modes I've tried. I tried the RT mode in different areas and without even moving I can tell the resolution was lowered. Add moving and it's so stuttery. The part that makes it even worse is the input lag. Increasing the fps makes inputs feel so much quicker.

So with RT mode I am losing resolution and clarity, buttery smooth movements and preferable input lag... All for some slightly better lighting. I'm enjoying the hell out of the performance mode here, panning around and seeing the beautiful environments is a joy.

Dealing with that Griffin tonight and then it's out of white orchard. Fuark.

There was a hot fix yesterday for PC for stability and better performance. Anyone play since?

Only did one playthrough and that was cat. Only in the end I got that white dye for it which I loved so I'm going cat again. Fits my playstyle the best. I thought about Griffon for a spell build but with cat school you can spam alot of spells even they won't be as powerful is Griffon.

Yea think it was more of a stability thing. All the problems are from DX12 so it’ll prob take some time to get any significant fix for RT/stutters. Think I’m actually gonna play on ps5 for the meantime. Possibly set up a platinum trophy run and then hit up GoG cross save to PC once a few patches come through

PS5 has waaay less issues than the PC version. PC version, on mine the grass looks all fuked up, like terrible, pixelated lines, some kind of artifact issue. Then it just straight up crashes and ****. PS5 version i played atleast 10 hours on already and only minor artifacts here and there sometimes in cut scenes and then it crashed once to the main ps5 menu.


shows what a fuk up they are because on PC theyre using all their OWN development tools where as on PS5 theyre using some of Sony's. like you guys did worse using your own **** and how were they surprised when the game was released public, they been working on this for 2 years, you never tested it outside of a lab PC? bullchit

Around the same playtime as you on ps5 and the only issue I'm having is a second of lag after an auto save. Maybe the map navigation is a little slow too, feels like 30fps.

Jesus christ I would be really annoyed with this too, and probably stop as well. Fortunately I'm not having any performance issues so far. The combat feels even older after the past couple years of games but it's crisp and looks so much better than the old console version so I'm having a bunch of fun with the story and absorbing a much better looking world.

Man the game has been near flawless for me so far. Only when the game autosaves/quest updates I get a small dip. Kinda annoying but rest of the time I'm having so much fun. The environments look great. The weather effects/sky look better than I remember. Did Keira, witches and now I finally met the Baron, hnnng.

Walking through crow's perch looked far better than I remembered, I swear there's a new weather effect that makes the sky look gloomy but rain isn't falling. It made some really nice lighting/shadow effects in the village while going to meet him.

I'm at the Bloody Baron now, but stopped to play some Gwent and win some cards. I don't know how much they changed the world lighting/weather but I'm really enjoying the lighting around the villages.

You won't be able to paly with RT for sure, but you'll be ok with DLSS and turning a couple settings down.
