mcgregor is the most underrated fighter

he used to be the most overrated fighter of all time, now he's the most underrated since his losses to dustin and khabib.

I'm seeing people say he can't beat anyone in the top 10. Complete bs

He's washed up. Got KOed, broke his leg in half. Incoherent rambling on social media. He's mentally and physically broken since the Khabib loss

Srs, it's sad. He used to be great at featherweight, then the flawless performance against Alvarez

It might've been the Mayweather fight which changed him before Khabib broke him completely

His striking revolved around his left hand. His stance, his footwork, pushing you to the cage then turning you into a corner throwing front kicks to your abs then sniping that left hand be it a cross or uppercut.

He was good at managing range and distance using his Karate style stance and keeping his right arm out and using that front kick to the abs.

    He had good takedown defense.

These are his best tools and that's pretty much it.

I personally think there were more well rounded fighters than McGregor but his gameplan was specialized for his left hand. This is what made him dangerous.

Since beating Alvarez this is who he's lost to

Khabib - Considered the goat by many

    Poirier - Starching everyone

He's not washed up. He was just overrated to begin with

He'd still beat Aldo and Alvarez if they had rematches. That wouldn't change.

I think his legacy as a fighter in his prime is definitely underrated after being tarnished a bit from everything since, but I can't help but think he's washed now.

    Maybe he's still a top-10 dude. Maybe.

He should've beaten Poirier in the 2nd fight imo. Poiriers very good but Conor could have easily owned him mentally like the first fight if he used head games

Instead he was being a nice guy to Poirier in the lead-up and basically tried to box Poirier instead of his previous style of mixing things up with his kicks

I think he could beat Aldo and Alvarez too but Alvarez is outside of UFC and Aldo is retired and way too small for Conor now

Those guys aren't at the top anymore either

Word games. He's also only fought 3 times since then, and those fights were against the greatest lightweight of all time, and Poirier who was the #1 ranked at the time.

It was that Mayweather money that kind of more or less ruined him. He made more on that one fight than he ever did MMA. $130,000,000. His biggest fight with MMA was $50M was with Khabib. Speaking of the devil, he actually did better against Khabib than the others. He actually landed some decent hits on him unlike all the others who just got mauled like they were toddlers against a pitbull. Khabib is an absolute freak of nature. I also think just the money in general made him less hungry. That proper 12 and some other stuff I think also got in the way.

Now, yeah he's a bit washed up. He's too heavy for his size now. He was a massive 145lber, but he's small at 160+. Seen some pics of him recently.... boy has got some serious gains. No way could he make 145, or even 155, he would be lucky if he could even get down in the 160's unless he dehydrated himself to the level of the Sahara dessert.

Connor has 2 lightweight victories to his name in his whole career. We're just seeing how human connor really is at 155 vs being able to dominate a bunch of featherweights.

He's a good fighter but so are a lot of guys in the ufc and fighting smaller good fighters like Chad Mendes isn't the same as fighting a good fighter who's your size or bigger like Dustin Poirier. He's beaten a LW champ and lost to guys good enough to be champion. It's only all the expectations that make him seem overrated.

Not to mention a 74 inch reach against the smaller guys. Hard to manage the distance better than everyone when you've lost a little of your size advantage in a new division. He closed the distance against the cage very early in his fight with Cowboy and hurt him with jumping shoulder butts. That's a small guy tactic.

that's why i said he used to be the most overrated fighter and now he's the most underrated. He's still easily one of the best lightweights if he started fighting constantly

lightweight is a very competitive division, alot of loseable matches for conor

loses against Makhachev, Poirier, Fiziev, Gamrot, Arman, Dariush IMO

I think it's 50/50 vs Gaethje/Chandler, both guys tend to get hit alot and overextend. Against Charles I give it 65/35 Charles, always a chance that a left hand puts him out.
