    Adjustable dumbbell handles weight capacity

Early pandemic I was sold a pair of adjustables by some guy on FB marketplace along with a case full of plates that allowed me to stack them up to 54 lbs each. Since then, I’ve bought enough plates to get them to 76.5 lbs if only one is used at a time so I don’t have to share the plates between the 2, but I’ve run out of room for some exercises. I do have some larger 25 lb plates that I can stack on, but I’m worried about them breaking or bending. Not sure the brand, lost contact with the guy. Is there any way for me to know how much weight I can put on them? I guess they were originally intended to be loaded up to 54, given the contents/size of the case.

Odds are they can handle the weight if they seem solid at 54 lb, but it's impossible to say for sure without knowing more about them. Are they spinlocks? Loadable olympic handles?

Personally, I'd jump on Black Friday sales today and get PowerBlocks, Ironmasters, or Nuobells.

I would but I’m dead broke! I’ll keep an eye out in the future.

They’re 1” spinlocks. They’re actually solid at 64 lbs, which is the most I can fit on them both at the same time. 76.5 lbs individually seems to be okay too though I don’t do that often.
