I don't think any liberals on here want Desantis to run. They just acknowledge that he's 1000x better of a candidate than Trump is.
The libs on here are probably licking their chops over Trump announcing his 2024 campaign. Why wouldn't they want him to be the nominee?*Sit there and don't know what to do when people sing happy birthday to me crew*

Well DeSantis did win the Miami area and elsewhere in Florida that traditionally have been Democrat strong holds. DeSantis does appear to have broad appeal to voters, with conservative and liberals liking his policies and approach to governing.
A write up on that ~

No Republican gubernatorial candidate in Florida has won Miami-Dade since 2002"

They want him to run to split the base between him and Trump. If Trump would go away, DeSantis would get the republican base, the independants, and some of the never trumpers. I will vote for Trump if he is the nominee but he is too polarizing to win.

Dems would highlight Desantis' history in congress and that would go very bad for him. The MAGA populists in the republican party and independents would abandon him. There aren't enough neocons left to bring him a W. Florida would be a lock but Florida is already deep red.

Because they know Biden’s years in office don’t hold a candle to the greatness that was 2016-2020

We don't want DeSantis to actually win the nomination, we just want him to run and create a civil war in the party. Biden would likely lose against DeSantis, although it would be pretty close, really depends on macro conditions in 2024. Incumbent advantage is a bigger deal than people think.
Trump on the other hand - he would absolutely not win, basically a 0% chance. And I predicted him winning in 2016 so I'm not just some shill.Anti identity politics crew

Liberals want DeSantis to run so they can see the chaos that erupts between Trump and DeSantis. And I think most liberals view DeSantis as a legitimate threat to taking the nomination away from Trump, which given Trump's ego, would make for an interesting show. DeSantis hasn't even run yet and Trump is already launching attacks at him. If DeSantis runs, Trump is going to make it ugly... and probably very entertaining.
Liberals don't actually want DeSantis... but they see how dangerous he is to Trump... and if Trump feels threatened he can completely blow up the party and hand 2024 to the Democrats. So, it's not really about them "wanting" DeSantis as much as it is about them wanting DeSantis to trigger Trump and make Trump cause more damage within his own party. If DeSantis ran and Trump didn't run, then liberals would be far more concerned. But if both of them run... I think liberals are expecting a brutal showdown that they are hoping will ultimately benefit the Democrats.YOU ARE NOT A SLAVE

When it comes to policies I agree/disagree with half of both parties. The only reason I'm center-dem is cause of people like Trump, Tucker Carlson, Boebert, Hannity, Matt Gates, Schumer, Graham and the entire MAGA crowd. Otherwise I'd be center-right.
Democrats have their hypocrites, liars, and politicians with underlying intentions, but the Republican politicians outnumber them exponentially. With the election denyinig, blind loyalty to the Orange bad man, constantly insulting/attacking, lack of dignity/humility/courage to acknowledg their own problems, and just the whole angry vibe, DeSantis looks like a beacon of hope. Go to any right wing news channel, literally nothing but hatred conversation.
MAGA is a huge deterrent. All it does is create political hostility, and people are tired of this.. Say what you want about Biden but his speech about uniting red and blue states was great. What did the Republicans do with that message? Use it against him to create more divide.
DeSantis plays a good role for the GOP, attacking problems every republican can agree on like woke culture without spewing vile hatred down our throats. He's a beacon of hope.
If you're a Republican who's not angry al the time, you're a RINO.Last edited by georgeenoob; 11-24-2022 at 04:15 AM.
