I work in the entertainment industry, I know how it works, and this isn't it.
Black Panther 2 has already made all of it's money back in just 10 days, and stop talking about a dropoff with a film that was a Top 10 opening weekend ever, lol. It's drop off is no worse than No Way Home's.
Again, in two weeks it's equaled Top Gun 2 which was a mega success. And has the Thanksgiving weekend coming up. And why do you keep bringing up the 4 billion investment? That's long been covered. The movie IS a big success

Dr Strange almost made a billion. Thor was a disappointment.
Anyone who thinks a billion doesn't make studios happy are living in fantasy land. Now Black Adam is a disappointment. Even The Batman wasn't all of that big of a success when you factor in it's Batman and BP 2 will pass it in two weeks the latest.6'3 Master Race

BP 2 doesn't have it's star lead from the first film. And still made over $540 mil in 10 days. You haven't pointed out any reason Marvel should be unhappy with it's box office. BP 2 won't have Top Gun 2's legs, but at THIS same point for both films, it's damn near equal in box office.

What part is wrong, again?
- Marketing costs are often double or more, they do not release the exact numbers but this movie was heavily promoted.
- Theaters split the revenue with Disney. Disney gets the Lion's share in week one and every single week after, they get less and less. You don't think the theaters take some of the ticket sales?
- Top Gun has much less of a drop off, which is relevant. Opening weekend 180m domestic. Top Gun, in less theaters, opened to 160m domestic and had a much smaller drop off. So it's doing better per theater and the evened out after week 2 as word of mouth propped TG:M and slowed down WF.
Anyway - it is a disappointment. Why are we comparing it to Top Gun, compared to Phase 3 Marvel movies and the original Black Panther, it's doing worse. Phase IV has not quite been a disaster but absolutely has been a misstep for Marvel and this movie to close it out did not change it's trajectory.
Don't get me wrong, I fully expect it to make it's money back but when you're used to money hand over fist, just making some is a slow down and a disappointment from the 4 billion dollar investment they made years back. Yes, it's made it's money already - but off the backs of other movies, not this one.
If I invest money into a business and it performs well initially and later stops making much money or even only breaks even, I don't smile because years back it made money - I freak the fuk out and wonder what is going on with my investment. Why isn't it still making big money? All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Yeah because that was back in the 90s before the cancer that is wokeism plagued society and nobody gave a flying fuk what colour the main character of a movie was lol, they just cared about the movie being good.
Original blade was awesome, hope they don't ruin the reboot.-always pick 4 crew

It didn't have a top 10 opening weekend lol.
I really don't understand why so many people have a need to try and overhype things about this movie to make it seem better than it is, is it cause the cast is all black so you feel like you need to?
I don't get it.
Thor Love & Thunder made $700M+ globally but nobody seems to have a problem calling it mediocre, which it was at best, so is BP2.-always pick 4 crew

Hrs trying to convince himself thst it'll be something huge. That it'll reach a billion dollars. Tbe third weekend will be an even bigger drop off, and it'll most likely end up making around 800 million, maybe 850 million when it's all said and done.
If it was being released in China, then it might have reached the billion dollar mark.
Face it, phase 4 has been a woke disaster, and who knows how bad phase 5 will be.Last edited by Dave22reborn; 11-21-2022 at 04:43 PM.

Streaming service is losing profit, as well as their movies.
Let's say they go for another Black Panther movie, and the proposed budget is 300 million. You think the studios are gonna sign off on that?
Batman Vs Superman technically wasn't a flop either. But look what happened. It literally killed the Snyder Universe. DC is a mess right now, with each movie either being a hit or a BIG flop.

I just torrented Black Adam and I just want to know why DC has a way to make movies that I feel stupid not knowing who all these other people are? "Here is ATOM SMASHER!!!" ..."who the f...? Did I miss three movies? Is that a black shazam?"
I spent unneeded minutes having to google characters.I would rather die than live my life in fear.- KSE

hmm, i will watch closely to see if Disney will get my support again. I legit cancelled Disney+ and stopped watching any movies and i canceled my trip to the park (i live in FL)
Disney is supposed to be a FOR PROFIT business, why are they using their business for political activism ..."Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me." - Psalm 23

no, Chapek was to blame.
He could have told the handful of employees who tried to bring politics into their job, he could have told them all to go F themselves, and would have cause to fire them on the spot with no unemployment benefits.
he could have easily stood up for sanity and just ignore these idiots, and the ones brave enough to cause "walkouts", fire them and replace them.
problem solved.
instead he went cuck."Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me." - Psalm 23
