Question Where does Lyoto Machida rank on your personal list of MMA greats?

    Top 20? Top 50?

    Just curious.

At LHW probably around 10-12 all time, at MW maybe top 25-30. Amongst all fighters I'd put him around 50-55.

He was really good and then fell off hard. Sad because you wanted to see a karate user excel.

tough to say. early on he looked unbeatable, but he was on dat dere. but he started to get old, got off dat dere and facing better competition and started losing.

he was never quite on the level of top middleweights imo like Weidman, Silva, Rockhold. he has alot of good wins but a lot of losses against top guys. 15-8 in the UFC. He did win the belt and defended it at one point but that was at LHW. So he's probably top 10 in that division all time.

One of the GOATs, my personal all time favourite.

There was a time when he was literally untouchable. Andy Silva in his prime is higher on the GOAT list than Chida but lets not beat around the bush, if they fought each other around 2010, Chida would be the likely winner.
Did someone say the likes of Rockhold are higher on the GOAT list?

I think I'm in line with these two schools of thought. Along with Carlos Condit, Lyoto was one of the most entertaining fighters (and personal favorites) of that time despite not being a top-tier performer. At the time he was wildly different than all the others fighters, and that lead to his mystique.

I'll never forget where I was when Shogun brutally flattened Lyoto
