No more than it thrived when Brock was "the guy" or when Roman was away with fake leukemia.
WWE made some good business decisions with the network and the international partnerships. They are really profitable. That doesn't mean they are more popular. In fact, their ratings are still significantly down from 3-4 years ago.

I see a lot of guys mentioning age but what age did stone cold become a star at? He was wrestling for awhile across different companies and was pretty experienced in the ring by the time he became stone cold. With all the injuries that shortened his run, I'd think he probably had to be up there in age by the time he hit his peak in popularity.

I legit feel like somebody in WWE went out of their way to screw seth rollins over by giving him the worst entrance music. They even tried to spice it up a little bit by actually adding in a melody at some point instead of just drums but at this point the crowd singing just covers up how bad his music is.

Roman is a star. I don't know how people think otherwise. Just look at the reaction he gets from the crowd. Guys who are on the other end of the star spectrum(i.e., nobodies) aren't going to get much of a reaction from the crowd because we don't know or care who tf those guys are. I can't think of a bigger name actively wrestling right now fulltime.

Yeah people can argue til the cow's come home about what he could be better at but if he's not a star right now then what wrestler from this generation of wrestling is?
Plus movie stars don't become stars without the decision makers that put them in those spots to be seen in the first place. Roman is in that spot and actually having the fans attention is a requirement of being a star since people have to actually know who you are. It's pretty difficult to come up with a single name from this generation of wrestlers who should be on that list more than Reigns even if people feel like it's WWE that pushed him down our throat.
Steve Austin didn't become a mega star in ecw or wcw without the platform to propel him to that level even if he was a good worker back then and may have been able to cut a promo. And lets not forget that it was Vince McMahon himself who worked the story line angle with Austin that got their highest ratings. The machine is behind whoever is going to make the money.Last edited by amenhotepv; 11-29-2022 at 08:37 PM.
