Sure was a shame. Been here for a long while and built my whole gym from basics to done. Lots of super knowledgeable people on equipment and lifting in general. If I'm considering something I always google this forum or search it.
Tried a few other places when it was crapped out most bordered between "not impressive" and "crap filled with fools that have zero real knowledge or experience".▪█─────█▪ Rogue Barbell Crew #27 ▪█─────█▪

First time back in years. A lot more spam than I remember, lol. I'm a mod on a different forum and it can definitely be tough to manage at times. Glad to be back here though, online forums have always been much more appealing to me for many reasons. I despise FB groups.
Can't wait to post an updated pic of my basement setup in the new house.▇ ▅ █ ▅ ▇ ▂ ▃ ▁ ▁ ▅ ▃ ▅ ▅ ▅ ▇

Welcome back!
I submitted a moderator app a bit over a couple weeks ago. For "Why do you want to be a part of the mod team?" I responded with something like "To help whack the spam and spammers." Haven't heard anything back ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I've been reporting much of the spam and giving the spammers negative reputations, but, I'm not certain that's doing any good. I imagine I'll eventually tire of the exercise and stop bothering.
I'm not sure what's going on with the site. It's almost like they don't seem to care about it much anymore.

Welcome back. I should probably update as my current doesn't include the FT or some sales I did.
For what it's worth the spam is currently WAY better than it was. It would be a full page of spam and only a single thread during later covid period. Killed off 90% of this forum which as you know was probably the premier equipment forum on the net. Improvement is leaps and bound better but still shows up, though amount is at least managable and doesn't totally overwhelm the place. Lots of guys never came back after a year or so of it being destroyed though.▪█─────█▪ Rogue Barbell Crew #27 ▪█─────█▪

Yes the spam is much better. I agree this was the premier equipment forum on the internet. No one really hawking their wares (aside from Sherm), getting kickbacks, or overall having an agenda. Just people who used, bought, and sold gym equipment helping others. There was, and still is a lot of knowledge here. I learned a lot and owe much of my home gym decisions to the users here, you just need to be willing to listen. I don't think anyone has needed to be talked out of buying a Bowflex for a few years now.

Yup - whole first page. Indian escorts...is there even anyone from India in this damn subforum? They are stupid as hell if their goal was anything other than ruining this place. Then again most sites seem to be protected against this much better so some blame lies with forum owners for sure. Not a suddenly new problem and mods removing it is not a good sustainable answer.

Somebody is occasionally doing something, because, every so often whole reams of spam will be deleted. But, nobody appears to be paying heed to spam reports. I've been faithfully reporting spam posts for a couple months. I don't think a single post I've reported has been deleted.
So, as of today: I'm not bothering anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I agree. The Equipment forum has been very helpful to me--when it's not inundated with Asian or Indian spam.
