I am not a huge proponent of supplements. Forever I've been taking ZMA but nothing else not even Creatine for years.....BUT.....
I recently started supplementing with Collagen and it's been life changing.
Joint Pain: GONE
Sleep: AMAZING
Strength: INCREASING.
Dose: 15 grams per day.
That is all.
You're welcome, old farts.

I tell it like it is, if you want smoke blown up your ass or something sugar coated. I suggest you get a Hooker and a powdered donut.

If you can’t get chicken paws try a small whole chicken that will fit into a crockpot. I use about a quarter stick of butter in the bottom of the crockpot, let melt. Place whole chicken into the crockpot and put it on high. When it starts to boil, drop it down to low. You don’t want bone broth to boil, just a light simmer. At this point you can add carrot, celery, potato or whatever you like. I do not salt at this point. I usually cook it for four hours and remove the bird. Debone all the meat and strain out the vegetables from the liquid. Put the bones back into the crockpot with the liquid it made ( you could put some dark meat back in for flavor if you like). Fill the crockpot with water and bring to a boil again, drop temp back down to simmer. Let simmer for a good 12 hours more. Some will let it simmer as long as 24 hours but I feel the taste changes in a negative way, your choice though. When the time is up, strain all contents into a large pot or what I like is a glass picture. Let it cool on the countertop and place into the refrigerator overnight. The fat will harden at the top, remove the fat with a spoon.
Vegetables – the reason I don’t leave the vegetables in the whole time is because the taste seems to change. Another choice is to add the vegetables in for the last four hours instead of in the beginning.
Mammal bones get roasted in the oven until browned first. Some people soak their bones in vinegar, your choice. All that meat on the bird will be moist and delicious. The skimmed fat is perfect for making gravy roux too.
Easy way…. Place the bird in the crockpot, fill with water. Reach a boil, back to simmer and walk away, cook for at least 12 hours. Store-bought bone broth tends to be high in sodium. Homemade broth is a game changer. Enjoy.
I drink mine but you can use it for soups, gravy, anything you like.

You can buy it anywhere. I started with tablets (Genacol) but they are kinda pricey and you have to take 3 a day just to get a measly 3g.
Then I switched to powder I bought a 1 kg bag from a local supplement online store. It dissolves very easily in water. Much cheaper and easier to get a higher dose.Insta: flexjs

I thought if you were using whey then you were getting all the aminos that are available in collagen.
Does it matter where the aminos are sourced from?
Are you taking Type II Flex?
The main five types of collagen and what they do are:
Type I. This type makes up 90% of your body’s collagen. Type I is densely packed and used to provide structure to your skin, bones, tendons and ligaments.
Type II. This type is found in elastic cartilage, which provides joint support.
Type III. This type is found in muscles, arteries and organs.
Type IV. This type is found in the layers of your skin.
Type V. This type is found in the cornea of your eyes, some layers of skin, hair and tissue of the placenta.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #53 ▪█─────█▪

Hiya! I had been taking collagen tablets, but the three huge tablets only gave about 2.5 grams of collagen. I read we need about 10g a day to see a difference. (Health Canada recommends a max of 10g per day.)
So I found this Canadian company and bought marine collagen powder. 1.5 tablespoons gives 8.333333 grams of collagen and its flavourless. It comes from skin and bones of fish that would otherwise be discarded. (I also read that bovine collagen is better, but oh well.)
I've been taking this for about 5 weeks now.
I am sleeping better and I am a smidge stronger (which might be because I'm sleeping better).
My skin is slightly firmer. I don't look 25, but I look hydrated (my lines are a bit plumped out!) and rested (again, maybe because I'm sleeping better?). I was hoping for stronger nails, but I haven't seen that yet. Still a bit early, as it takes about 12 weeks for our nails to grow from the bottom of the bed to the tips of our fingers. A friend of mine has been taking collagen for about 8 weeks and she has noticed a real difference in her skin.
And yes, my joints do feel better!
There are some studies out there, but they are all funded by supplement manufacturers, so they might be a bit biased.
Honestly, just the fact that I'm sleeping well will have me repurchase. No drama: You know where we are.

I started making my own bone broth a couple of years ago and it is heavenly! I do mine stovetop. Add a couple tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and it will help draw the good stuff out of the bones. I use plenty of herbs and carrots/celery/onion combo and it is so flavourful - delicious for drinking and for soups and sauces.
I don't know what took me so long to get onboard!! I now save all my bones in the freezer and make a 6L batch when I've accumulated enough bones. No drama: You know where we are.
