At 6'1", according to BMI, 189 lbs is the cutoff range for being at a normal weight. I'm currently 193 lbs (originally 311 lbs, 118 lbs lost). At this rate, in 2-3 weeks from now, I'll probably hit that long waited magic number 189 that I only could've dreamed was possible.
I was in the 95th percentile, heavier than all but the top 5% of fattest people. Now I'm approaching the bottom 25% percentile, in the 25% of Americans that are in the normal weight.
Milestones are arbitrary. 227 lbs was the point where I was no longer obese. Getting under 200 lbs also had some significance. But BMI isn't the end-all-be-all. Because I likely have less muscle mass than the average male, my 24.9 BMI would look like another man's 26-27 BMI.
There are other more important factors
* How you look/feel (subjective, but it matters)
* How well your body composition enables you to meet your athletic goals
* Waist to height ratio
With a 39" waist, I'm at 53% ratio. You would expect most people at my weight to have 34"-36". Meaning I have low muscle mass and/or I distribute more fat around my stomach than the average person. Under 50% is generally regarded as ideal, with male models are often in the 43-45% range.
