CNN is transitioning to a more right wing platform now, so this isn't actually surprising. Early voting will be strong (already 70% in favor) for Fetterman so I think he'll still win. That, and Americans have short memories.

If Fetterman gets elected, his only job will be to show up and vote how Dems want him to on specific bills, being absentee most of the time. A warm body to vote for agendas. He'll spend almost no time in DC itself. He'll be chillin at home instead.

I think in most cases they would have the election and if that candidate wins, the Governor or state legislature appoints someone until a special election can be held. (Depending on the state).
