cliffs:
- Bayonetta voice actress claims she only got offered 4,000 USD to voice the entire game
- now calls to boycott the game
don't even know what to think lol
if true of course she's not gonna do it, in what world is 4K acceptable lmfao
on the other hand I just have difficulty believing a gaming company being that petty to only offer 4K for a crucial part of their game

Would need the full story for this.
First she said she wasn't contacted at all, now she says the offer was too low. Wut?
What did she get paid before? What's the industry standard? Would the work have been done in a day or 2? If so, 4k ain't bad.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Not surprising, since most of these companies are greedy as fuk ... They make money hand over fist, raise prices for the games, have all sorts of dlc/mtx, but all that money goes towards padding the ceo's wallets ... I doubt any devs or people involved in the game actually see any benefits from their insane revenues.Sig line can't be a novel

She wasn't offered the job to return she had to apply for the role again, and the original offers were even lower than the 4k.
I read that when Asian companies do that it's basically their subtle way of telling you they don't want you anymore. But that doesn't make sense since they could of just no hired her again in the first place.

Why would you boycott the game over this?
They offered her a job and an amount for that job. She didn't have to take it, she's free to get work elsewhere, what's the big deal?
Imagine everyone started asking you to boycott a business/service because they applied for a job there and felt it was underpaid, society would come to a complete stop.Last edited by Tuga88; 10-16-2022 at 04:24 AM.

There has to be way more to the story considering that Jennifer Hale is a union VA and she took the job with no problem. Seems like this was a situation where they tried not very subtly to say "we're going a different direction" and the original VA is being a bitch about it.
At the end of the day, the game was only going to sell about 750k copies anyway, so this probably boosted sales up to over a million.***Mariah Carey is my 10/10 Crew***

Someone did the math for how much it would pay for Bayonetta, and it came out to around 250 an hour for the 4k if you're being generous. The first game had three hours of cutscenes (including scenes she wasn't in and all the dead time with no one talking/action). Throw in a few lines of gameplay, and this sounds like a few days worth of work max. 4 hours a day for 4 days (16 hours), came out to about industry standard. On top of that, this isn't Last of Us or Cyberpunk with nuance and emotion or motion capture. It's a simple mature, sultry, British voice and a game about action.
Sloot is complaining about getting 4k for essentially a few half days of work. It's not like this is a year of her salary. Either way, LOL @ feeling bad for someone making 250 an hour.
Plus, the call for boycotts? Sounds like she just sucked to work with or they wanted to do something different with the voice. Hale is a better voice actor than her anyway. New Bayonetta voice sounds hnnnnnng vs the hag she was before
This too. It's not like she's iconic. She hasn't voiced the character in 9 years since the last game.
This isn't a David Hayter or Michael Ironside situation where they are the character and voiced them for like 7 games of a decade+.
It had a Japanese voice over option, but not really dedicated voice acting with lip syncing. Kind of chit, so it was default english in Japan too.Last edited by AD117; 10-16-2022 at 02:28 PM.

I think there's more to the story, especially now that the Platinum game director's twitter has gone dark right after. To be clear, the guy is notoriously, um, insane on Twitter, and responded in a similar matter here:
According to Kamiya, Taylor was misrepresenting the situation and called what she said "untruth." He then not-so-vaguely threatened everyone online by ending this tweet with "BEWARE OF MY RULES." This alluded to Kamiya's well-known trigger finger for blocking folks, which is anyone's right on social media.
The article also sums up the cultural angle:
There's also been some suggestion online that there is a cultural element here and these actions—forcing her to audition again and offering her a flat, buyout rate—is how a lot of eastern companies operate. Instead of outright firing someone, they leave enough not-so-subtle hints, forcing the issue. Kamiya responded, and it devolved from there.I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine

the excuse would be hours are tight and he would schedule them 1 day a week, knowing damn well they can't live off it, it would take a couple weeks for the said employee to be like ok "i'm out."

Updates: She lied as we saw but it was worse than even that. She's later come out and just completely unraveled her own statement with new ones. Also the game seems to have benefited from this publicity and is going to do even better, so fuk her.
