Why the hell didn't VKM book Flair vs Hogan @ WM8?

Hogan was the champ for so long in WWF.
Flair was the champ for so long in the NWA.

This was end all, be all scenario for dream matches.

Was it because VKM knew it would draw more to advertise a "Double Main Event"?

The world title match with Savage vs Flair wasn't even the last match on the card. Hogan vs Sid was a flop only to draw a little bit of excitement from a 175LBS Ultimate Warrior save from Papa Shango. It was ridiculous.

If VKM knew this was Hogan's last match, then why not just do the passing of the torch to Flair, even if it wasn't for the title? With Hogan gone, they could have done a Flair vs Warrior feud.

Yeah there were some house show matches with Hogan vs Flair, but it wasn't being pushed as it should have and was somewhat of a half-assed feud that was really a flop.

How could they screw this up? Was this really a missed opportunity or were there legit reasons not to book it?

VKM loved leaving money on the table when it came to presenting the WWF as anything but unstoppable, the best, etc... look at the "Invasion" and how poorly that all went.

Huge missed opportunity and probably had a lot to do with Vince being an ass and Hogan refusing to put anyone over even on his way out.

    - House shows for the match prior to WM8 didn’t do well.

Because business was in the toilet & he did at house shows to improve that & as a dry run for WM, but it didn't draw as he expected. Vince being entranced by big bodies was no doubt in love with Sid & figured he would be the next Hogan level guy.

Because Flair was an average sized guy that looked like a flabby old man. Hogan was a monster killer. You needed someone imposing to stand across from the Hulkster.

Wrestlemania 5 worked because that was a solid 2 years worth of story building, and Macho at least looked like he lifts.

Flair didn't have the best physique but he had decent size. It was before a time where twinks like Finn Balor, Jungle Boy, Gargano were accepted.

Sounds like VKM screwed up betting it all on Sid.

He wasn’t shredded but he still had a pretty good physique into the early 90’s. Better than some of the guys that are on tv today. He looks like a grown man at least.

IMHO, it was a product of Vince not fully committing to anyone he didn’t create.

Vince didn't create Sid either. Sid was WCW before WWF. Both Flair and Sid came from the competition. Why would VKM favor Sid over Flair?

It didn't make sense that Sid kicked out with authority after the Hogan leg drop only to get DQ'd. Not sure how that pushed Sid as "the next big thing"

He created Sid Justice & why would he favour him? Flair was about to turn 43, Sid was 31. Sid was 6 foot 8 or whatever & 300 pounds of muscle.

Sid's kick out was an unfortunate improvise/botch because Papa Shango didn't make it to the ring in time to interfere.

Should have been under the ring-took ages for everybody to get down the aisle & apparently gorilla position messed up the timing.

Hogan was leaving; it didn’t make sense for Hogan to win.

But there was zero chance Hogan or Vince would let Flair roll over the Hulkster, brother.

RR showed first signs of Hulkamania starting to faulted. Vince thought Sid was the next guy (lol)
