He already cut off the gas in the *2* pipelines that somehow exploded and they were no plans to reopen them, so it hasn't inconvenienced Russia at all.

However it is all in his direct benefit as his media can spin the story about the bullied victim of Russia and the latest aggression from NATO and it's Ukrainian Nazi friends... how they want to exterminate the Russian peoples and sabotaging its infrastructure and interests. He could use that on his news to justify a full mobilisation and in the eyes of his country he will look like a saviour.

All a huge benefit for him, also the pipeline transit fees to Belarus now gas goes their way so win-win for Putin.

The ship that Russians use for this kind of task, sorry I mean for "surveying the oceans to benefit humanity", is based in Severomorsk but also comes in to Kaliningrad Chkalovsk in Kaliningrad Oblast, you know that big Russian naval base in the Baltic not so far from the pipeline explosions, and it often loiters about the Baltic with its AIS turned off to hide it's location.

Maybe it was the Russians (I think so) maybe it wasn't... But if you choose to take advice from clowns at least pick one that checks the geography of the explosions

With those pipelines intact, Russia is a few keystrokes, and one bullet in Putin's head, away from billions of dollars in gas revenue. So without the pipeline there, someone is a lot less likely to try that bullet. Chips away at the ability for internal opposition to resume normal relations with the West in the event he's overthrown, and serves as a signal to hardliners that he's serious about seeing the conflict to it's end.

What's not been mentioned so far in this thread is whoever blew up a not yet used pipeline (and looking like it wasn't going to be) and a no longer used pipeline did it in the same general location as the brand new gas pipeline between Norway and Poland.

Almost like someone is threatening the Polish that they can cut off Poland's gas if they want to...
