OP gets it. Blu-Ray discs are substantially higher quality than anything you can stream. You can download remux files and get a close copy, but the physical disc will always be better.

I get the logic, but keeping cds is inferior. It's not convinient, it's not portable, they damage easily, and CD players are less and less common. Cds are also more expensive. The only disc drive I own is in my car and my Xbox. Am I gunna walk around work with portable CD player? Lol no.
It's only worth it if you're an audio file, and even then, barely. I sub to tidal and apple music and between the two most of lossless audio needs are met just fine. Maybe not if you listen to some weird niche music but that's about it.
Most of these streaming services offer downloads so you can download music too if you're worried about internet.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

You can easily torrent off your phone in 5G and put movies on a flash drive.

honestly, i wouldn't care at all if i didn't experience it.
but with my sound system there's always a notable difference when i stream and then go back to movie.
i'll notice it punches/ hits harder and is more clear. and then i'll have to turn down my receiver. that action of having to change my receiver is what i noticed.
i like owning as well. whereas with streaming you've just bought a license to use their platform. if you lose that account, you'll lose your movies. if you buy on amazon amazon actually owns your chit and if you get banned you're not getting it back.
also i know you guys are multiple degrees removed when you torrent/ download but copyright infractions are no joke. im pretty sure when you own a site or something the original ceasse and desist letter is like 8 to 10 grand with the threat of going after more. which is why a lot of people comply. the punishments are STEEP. not worth it imo

I have an entire house I could fill with CD's, but I don't because it's not worth it. I don't have a 500 disc stereo receiver anymore cause it's not the 90s. I'm not getting up to change disc's to listen to music. I'm not burning CD's. I cast my iPad to my denon receiver and dolby atmos speakers because I live in 2022 and have all new tech precisely because I'm not a poorcel.
If I'm getting snobby about audio quality, I'll go to my pc and use my expensive sound card and even more expensive headset and use tidal to listen to the absolute best quality, even better then CD.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

i mean chit gets expensive. but i was impressed with the way just a 2.1 system sounded.
2 bookshelfs and a subwoofer
5.2 is good too
im just saying you don't need 7.2 and above
but chane music and cinema is an internet direct company. that can build more quality cheaper cause they dont have the overhead of a physical store
if you went 5.1 or 5.2 their bookshelfs and their center would be nice for relatively cheap
https://www.chanemusiccinema.com/chane-a1-5.html
https://www.chanemusiccinema.com/chane-a2.4.html
i think that center is prob better than the bookshelfs. so if you go 2.1 you may want a more substantial bookshelf
and i actually really like the bic f12. some audiophiles might stick their nose up at you but it gives people what they typically want out of a sub. that loud boom effect
more expensive subs are "cleaner" and go lower. and very few movies actually go low. majority are in the range f12 gives you

This. I still don't own a flat screen TV. 360P plays as nice as VHS on a CRT TV. The only reason I'd buy a blu ray is cause it can MP4 which would be far faster than doing conversions to mpeg-2 so I can play them on DVD. To do a conversion takes about 6 hours per disk. And MP4 is about 4 times more efficient .

Collecting physical discs is a pretty fun hobby, as well as watching them. I should start getting my favorites when they go on sale. It's nice not relying on streaming services sometimes, and if chit hits the fan in 2024 we can rot in our walking dead caves with our movie and video game and music collections lol. It's a lot of $$$ spent in the long run though, and they take up a lot of shelf space. cool way to decorate your room at least, kind of a decent investment if you're getting collector editions with steel books and figures/posters.

CD's are far superior to streaming.
Just lol at only listening to only the 3 top albums of amazing artists that have decades of albums.
I do have audiophile level stereo though.

lmfao brahs, maybe I wasn't clear
nothing wrong with downloading files and keeping them on memory storage, that way you have access to them regardless of internet connection
fuk I just use a mp3 player and cheap headphones myself, I'm far from an audiophile / AV snob lmfao
when it comes to movies you could apply the same logic BUT if you want to download a movie in comparable quality to a Bluray you're looking at a LOT of storage
+ I just like to have my favorites on the shelve and I can just play them on my Series X so it's not a hassle at all+++ miscin' at work crew +++

Only with a proper home theater setup, imagine getting BDs to play on a laptop or a 1080p monitor when any stream will be more than enough.
If you have a proper 7.1 or ATMOS audio setup with a proper 60+ inches 4K HDR with all the bells and whistles, BDs are a must and you would already know since you would have invested so much into it already a 30 USD BD will not stop you from taking advantage of it..
