he looked bad in the Merab fight, but the fights before that he honestly looked sharp and good. But perhaps a good call because Bantamweight is wayyy to competitive now. Dillashaw, Sandhagen, Yan, Vera, etc.
funny enough tho, I think if they just straight up gave Aldo the title shot vs Sterling, I think Aldo could have perhaps won that if he looked anything like his previous 3 victories. but maybe he would just get wrestled to death like what Merab did.

One of the very best, if not the best to ever do it. Superb athlete with superb skills. Injuries took a toll, but at his peak, he was exceptional. He has been on the decline for a number of years, but his level of skill meant that he was able to remain competitive up until the end.
He has a case for the best TDD in MMA history. He had excellent striking defense and footwork, great body work, a really good jab, some of the best low kicks in MMA, fantastic knees, high fight IQ, and he was a legit BJJ black belt with underrated offensive wrestling.
He was just a joy to watch. I’m sure he will be back fighting somewhere else. I just don’t want him to get hurt or embarrassed. God bless you Jose Aldo.
