Had the opportunity to absolutely bury the Democratic party in November. Should have just STFU and do nothing. Why would you go after the single most controversial issue in America while you had a huge lead and the other side was just making one terrible decision after another?
Democrats are clowns, but Republicans are flat out stupid.

All about that white evangelical vote in SC. As long as you pick up the Bible with one hand...they will vote away their children's future...
Half the (R) here would vote in AOC over Trump if it were guaranteed she would ban abortion over Trump simply maintaining the current policy before the SC decision on R v W.

Ho-Lee-Fuk
Republicans are absolutely retarded.
You should really take note of how a non-cultist would respond, by criticizing their own party. You dont happen to have any posts like that, would you?
Now remember guise, he's gonna definitely have some sort of great rebuttal to this simple, logical litmus test of what would make someone a lunatic. 100% it's gonna be scholarly and not inkcelUSMC 0311

What huge lead?
Not sure why so many people on here are acting like the GOP had a double digit lead or something. When the Biden admin and the Democratic congress were making one terrible decision after another and presiding over record inflation, they were leading the congressional ballot for all of 2021, and the GOP never got higher than a +4 aggregate in the polls in 2022 (this was before Roe as well, so I don't want to hear that excuse). Pitiful numbers for an opposition party during such a disastrous environment (on paper) for the party in power.
Welcome to demographics. Might as well try to jam through whatever conservative legislation you can now, because it's going to get more and more impossible with very passing election.*Sit there and don't know what to do when people sing happy birthday to me crew*

Republicans don't want to be in the majority. See when the Turtle botched Georgia's chances last year, and now this. They enjoy just complaining about the other party while being in the minority.

Swing state Republicans can actually make points by saying they oppose the bill on the grounds it's a states rights issue. That would both give them some credibility for the consistency of their message and take some heat off the issue if it's clear that a federal ban would not even make it through a Republican Congress, while still not explicitly supporting abortion rights to their pro-life backers.
I'm pro-choice, but I also agree with the Dobbs decision. There really is no guaranteed right to an abortion in the Constitution, so it should be a states rights issue. My hope is that states allow access to abortions at least to a reasonable point in the pregnancy and at any point for medical emergencies, but that is up to what the people want in their own states. The only thing that the federal government may have jurisdiction over (under interstate commerce) is the part of the laws in some states that punish people for going across state lines to get an abortion where it is legal. The federal government can (and should IMO) ban that practice, but otherwise, I don't see any justification for legislating abortion at a federal level in either way (short of a Constitutional amendment).

The effect will be along gender lines, not racial. There are a lot of women/mothers (my wife included) who are not on board with clown world stuff like boys competing in girls sports or teaching sex ed to 2nd graders, but as soon as abortion became an issue again, voting Republican is off the table completely.

I understand your argument, but it does also depend on how deep into far left clown world the Democrats go. These issues I listed above, plus other things like debt forgiveness, were really making reliable but somewhat moderate Dem voters reconsider. If they pushed the boundaries even further on that stuff, they would start to bleed voters out the other side. The Dobbs decision all but ensures that not too many people will stray from the reservation. In the long run, you may be right about demographics, but if you make the long run long enough, it gives the far left a chance to get bat chit crazy enough to lose enough reasonable people to avoid the takeover. Pushing on this issue does just the opposite.
