Worked all night previous, got off work in the morning, fellow bus passenger told me the news.
I initially thought the attacks were a diversion from an airborne parachute drop. (too much Red Dawn)
Went to the gym, trained legs, watched the TV and teared up between sets.
Not a plane in the sky the next few days. Almost as eerie as when covid hit and no cars on the road.
The whole damned thing smelled fishy back then and I still don't think the public has been told the truth about what really went down that day.

Turned on the news, saw the attacks, stock market didn't open. That evening I got into an argument with an accounting major about Arthur Anderson. She thought Arthur should go to jail. I didn't bother telling her that Arthur Anderson is the name of a company, not a person.

Some amazing stuff in here....A great read, keep them coming folks.
I was in such a hurry to hit the trails this morning I forgot to add mine...
I was in the basement skinning a bunch of rabbits to be bottled, missus called out to tell me I needed to see this. I was floored I had retired a couple of years earlier from a career with NORAD and at that moment I wished I was still in the game.

Was at work and all of us pretty much got nothing done the rest of the day as we were glued to the tv's in the breakroom.
Now days we get posts and meme's stating "Never Forget" but I honestly think as a nation we have forgotten and are even inviting the snake into our livingroom."You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."

I was putting down hardwood floor in the first home I built for my wife and I.
Just me and a guy name "Tim". Over the Dewalt radio, news started to cut in. After a few minutes. We stopped working. A few more minutes, and I let Tim leave (he had family in NY). I went and picked up my wife at her work. I can remember sitting in our living room that night and watching the news. So badly wanted to 'do' something. I wanted to go volunteer for the search and rescue. Made some calls to family up north. But I had 20+ guys who depended on me to make a living here and I provided their pay checks.
I dont remember a lot, but that was just like it was yesterday....RAW lifts

I was working as a Grocery Assistant Manager for Kroger in McKinney, Texas back then and I was working overnights training some new overnight stockers. Got home around 8am and started relaxing and was about to go get a nap when we turned on the TV. Totally surreal! Like many others, I wanted so badly to go to NY and help. I remember watching in horror as those people jumped out of the windows. Even today thinking about it makes me want to vomit.
I vividly remember that 14 days after the 9/11 attacks, my life took a hard left turn when the girl I had been living with for three years left me unannounced. I had just turned 30 years old and I was devastated. It forced me to make a decision to move back to Oklahoma and go back to school and complete my degree. Best decision I ever made, but looking back, I can still feel the sting of both 9/11 and my own personal 9/25 as I call it.

One of the mangers (who was a dishonest compulsive bullsh!tter tried to talk to me about something and I ignored her) then got a text message from a buddy working in lower Manhattan, he was by the base of wtc said "watch the news". People in the office started to switch on the big TV in reception, a few people tried to phone colleagues in head office in 1 wtc but couldn't get through, most of us didn't try phoning as we didn't want to use their phone lines in case they needed them (if any were working). Other tower hit, sister company there. Overall manager sent everyone home. A lot of confusion, took weeks before they knew who was lost and who was ok as a few people who'd made it out just went back home or to relatives out of state and went off grid for some time. Don't blame them.

I was driving a service van for a Chevy dealer I was working for in the Chicago suburbs. I was listening to Mancow as usual in the morning when he starting blithering about a plane that flew into the WTC. I honestly didn't believe it was true considering Mancow was so outrageous and a bit of CT nutter. But then kept going on and on about it then the second plane hit. At that point, I was like... I need to turn to another radio station to verify this cause it sounds pretty real. Sure enough, new radio confirmed it.
I actually went about my day working that morning doing a couple jobs then got back to the dealership right before noon. Everyone was in the waiting room glued to the tv watching the coverage on the news.
I also, remember how weird of a feeling it was for about week after with no planes in the sky. Then when they finally started letting planes fly again I was in the service lot at the dealer and saw two fighter jets escorting a plane back to O'Hare aiport. Talk about surreal, I though they were going to shoot that plane out of the sky. Turned out a mentally handicapped man started flipping out for some random reason and it freaked every out on the plane. Everyone was on edge.Age: 42

Good to see you Tom (feels like it's been a while) and hear the perspective from across the Pond.
I was working on my dissertation in my office when my wife told me the first tower was hit. I didn't believe it - thought it was an Orson Wells 'War of the World' type hoax. Tried the internet which was basically down, and then watched the second hit live on the second tower. Was consulting with a government utility at the time and was supposed to go in but they shut down. Was already deep in the process for my Air Force commission which certainly changed the nature of my service when I went active duty a few months later. It's never too late!

I've read that for every one that died in the attack, 2 people have died since from breathing in the asbestos and carcinogens from the rescue effort.
Rudy Giuliani turned out to be a nutjob in later years but I clearly remember him as Mayor of NYC at that time standing on a pile of rubble yelling at people to put on their masks.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.
