Yea it all smells very fishy. Add in the Holland vs Rodriguez was added to the event just two weeks ago conveniently at a 180lb catchweight. Nate is also now saying he doesn't plan on this being his last UFC fight which adds to the drama.
It was a very weak PPV so it is not surprising they are stirring up this drama hoping to draw more attention.

I don't know. They have so many things to deal with, I don't think they came up with this cunning plan. A lot of these guys aren't the brightest crayons in the box and I can easily see them starting something behind the curtains - especially Nate & Hazmat. It was probably exactly as Dana described it, I don't believe that they suddenly turned into marketing geniuses overnight.

I suspect Dana and the bookmakers started getting cold feet. Dana gets the idea that Nate Vs Tony makes way more sense. The backstage stuff happens, which makes Khum Vs Holland a no brainer, so Dana tells Khamzat to purposely stop cutting weight for an excuse to change the fights around.
Meanwhile Till is there because every simulation needs a noticeable NPC to add to the realism. You could tell Khum stopped cutting because he had the energy to 'go after' Costa, but ends up looking like a clown anyway.
Respect to Nate for making weight without any issue at all though13% do 52% AA's gonna AA

Do you know how much money goes into marketing these types of events? Also damaging the reputation of UFC brand for just a couple of extra milly when they make 4-5 billion per year? I mean it's cool to speculate and create conspiracies but let's be real, Dana has too much chit to deal with to do all of this. I think Khumshots villain arc just began though, let's see if he can pull back to being a good guy like Daniel Cornea did after eye gouging Stipe into a retina surgery.

I think he could be right, first off, there's no footage of the "brawl"? With all the embedded people, all the cell phones, suspicious. Secondly, Chimaev misses weight, looks like he didn't even try, laughs sheepishly, I could see Dana telling him "hey, you're fighting Holland at 180, don't cut weight, perfect excuse to scrap the fight. As far as ticket sales and ppv's, both Chimaev and Diaz are still on the card, both have better more compelling fights. Not to mention the so-called backstage fight was between Holland and Chimaev, coincidence? The whole thing seemed to work too perfectly. I'm not a conspiracy guy at all but this thing was very suspicious to me.
Bodybuilding is a lifetime journey, anytime spent not bulking or cutting is a waste of time.

Why though? So Nate doesn't get obliterated? So UFC makes a couple of extra $? It's so much trouble to go through for almost irrelevant gains. Dana just made quick on the spot decisions with the team and fortunately the weight thing worked out. I'm happy to go along with the wildest of CTs but this just makes zero sense from a business perspective.
Dana made the brawl up to pay the fighters more to switch fights up? We all know his primary goal in life is to pay the fighters as little as possible. You know Holland was negotiating hard for some sweet limited edition kicks from Nike as well as a cool extra $100k to fight Chimzat Khamaev and lose to him instead of climbing closer to the top with an easy win over Rodriguez. Nate probably asked $200k+ or he's out and all the other fighters will be compensated as well for this chit show.
(before you call me out I'm just pulling these numbers out of my a55 and know feck all what actually happened lmao)

Anyone who truly believes that yesterday was scripted is an idiot or has watched too much WWE. This is a crazy sport full of crazy people. The "scripted" accusations around the UFC have been happening for as long as I can remember. I remember people thought Conor nearly decapitating someone with a dolly was scripted.
It doesn't even make sense logically. Why not just do these fights from the start? The card would have had huge buzz for Nate/Tony and Holland/Kumshot. The truth is, Holland/Kumshot makes zero sense and neither guy would ever agree to it outside of yesterday's circumstances.
It hurts my brain to think so many people believe all 6 of these fighters + countless UFC staff behind the scenes were in on some big conspiracy to generate slightly more hype, or something.
Edit: Didn't read this, but this ^
I'm pretty sure the UFC paid these guys A LOT more than $100k/$200k as well.
Also, yesterday completely destroyed Kumshot's reputation. He was supposed to be "the guy" going forward.

You may be right but either way planned or not Dana didn't have to become a marketing genius overnight, he has been doing it very successfully for a very long time. Putting this even back together with the same 6 fighters may actually be more impressive than if it was planned as the fights seem more competitive and better for UFC. The event was seen as pretty meaningless feeding Nate to a Rancor for wanting to leave UFC, but it turns out that Nate was just negotiating and doesn't actually want to leave and Khamzat may not be the Rancor he pretended to be before getting shook by Burns. There is just no way Nate vs Tony will not be an epic fight and the legend of the Khamzat monster has taken a turn more toward fantasy than true crime.

Official picks then:
Ferguson
Kumshot
Li
Sloot fight JFL
Walker
I think Tony still has enough to beat Nate. Cuts could play a big role.
Kumshot should win fairly easily but if Holland can avoid a sub for the first 3 rounds, it could get interesting.
Li vs D-Rod is a pick 'em. I think Li has the edge, all things considered.
Walker is a pretty big underdog but I think he gets back to winning ways in this one.

Watch the interviews with Kham and Nate, both have Freudian slips.

diaz
holland
Li
walker
On my parlay. Its a long shot, but 50 pays 3000. Im fairly confident in Diaz, esp at the weight and how bad Fergie looks in general. Holland has an extremely good chance if he makes it past 3 rounds, plus the grudge factor and it would be a life changing win for him. Li and walker im fairly confident in.I was always looking at the finger pointing at
the moon. Now I'm just looking at the moon.
And theres no me looking. Theres just looking.

Anyone saying this is not wwe, it kinda is. Remember them using Connor’s dolly toss in promos? The whole entire connor vs mayweather thing with press conferences selling out arenas?
I’m suspicious here mainly because of the weight. Nobody misses weight by 8 lbs. What fighter in his right mind would not even try to save 30% of his purse (penalty for missing weight) and make himself ineligible for the 50k bonus?
Add to this the fact that holland suddenly tweeted some chit talk about chimaev a day earlier to refresh that altercation they had a year back.
Add the whole “in 30 years of this sport we’ve never seen anything like it” chit Dana was repeating when he came out, building up some shoving backstage, which nobody had any footage of (when has that happened?)
Add to that the fact that nate was sort of avoiding talking about khamzat, saying “i dont care, let him beat me”.
I dont know when this was decided but i think it was earlier than the weigh ins. They tried to make it crazier, get some buzz going.

It doesn't even look like he attempted to cut. His coaches gave a bs reason saying he wasn't medically able to cut weight. If that was the case they would've pulled out instead of weighing in at all.
I don't think it was scripted from the beginning, but something recent might have happened and the idea of them scrapping it all up last second to do this isn't out of the reach imo. Who knows maybe they are doing something long term with nate diaz and they're keeping ties with each other. UFC might have paid out the ass to get Khamzat/Li/Holland to reschedule but maybe it's for something that is worth it. The card itself just got more hyped and got a ton more buzz than it had before.
Nothing.. just chit talk and then khamzat apparently push kicked him backstagewatchout your comments boyo ↓

Make the fight in the first place to draw attention, curiosity and willing to watch a 1 sided beatdown. Switch it at the last minute when everyone has been talking about it.
Bait and switch tactic.
Also, as far as I know, none of the fighters complained about the replacements? You train for months and months for a specific opponent then you're given someone else at the last minute and you accept immediately?
I know they need to get paid and feed their family but studying an opponent's fighting style takes months of prep.
Well, regardless if it's WWE or not, it's definitely a better card now and I can't wait to watch the fight tonight.

Lmao I don't know, you guys have been watching too much Alex Jones. Nates "freudian slip" lmao, dude can't get a coherent sentence together to save his life and now him and the whole UFC team of 500+ people are in on a bait and switch that does nothing for UFC and is the first time in history when something like this has ever happened despite having chit main event cards before.
Anyways, let's talk about today. Weeks vs Lainesse made me realise how huge the levels are to this game. You can see how quickly some fighters learn the movements of their opponents but Weekes seems to have trouble understanding that the Canadian dude does a huge circle to the right after loading up and swinging every single time. Stark contrast to, let's say, Aldo, who can learn very quickly how the opponents kick, move etc. His low leg kick defense/how he handles it is legendary and it's wild to see him still innovating after 10+ years at the top of the game. When most people want to put their weight on the front foot which often they lack time for, Aldo simply slides back a bit and rotates the lead foot outwards which makes the kick miss. Small things like this are great to watch out for when people talk about fight IQ.
