I play my switch docked to the tv 99% of the time. I don’t normally use it as a handheld, so I don’t have any desire to get a steam deck.
My switch is for Nintendo first party software (yes I know, muh emulation)-Engineering Crew

Not being able to dock it and use as a console is a huge missed opportunity if true. If it can't be docked then you need to still buy a console or PC for your home gaming AND a deck only for the times when you're not home. Cool part of the switch is you only need to have your one device and you're good for both needs.

I would get a steam deck if I traveled or commuted on a train or something. At least for me since I have a PC I'd already have a ton of games and could play my backlog. I wouldn't need to buy any games.
I almost got my gf a switch cause she travels a decent amount but then I realized it would be another couple hundred to stack up on games.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

Yeah I mean buying one of those OLED Switch's for $350 is pretty retarded when you can get a Steam Deck for $400. $50 more for a vastly superior product. As someone who has a Steam Deck, I can confirm how it absolutely moggs the Switch.
Have fun trying to play games on your laptop like you could a handheld. A real apples and oranges comparison here. I mean I love my gaming laptop, but it's a laptop, and I only really game with it when it's at a desk/table and I got a mouse. That and the laptop is far more expensive. Like you can buy at least several maxed out Steam Decks for the price of one.

Well if you don't care about portability it would be retarded to buy a Steam Deck, as the entire reason for it's purpose is to have a portable handheld gaming PC. That said you can dock with it.
I mean do we really need to draw a comparison between a gaming PC desktop and a handheld?
So you're a grown adult, and you still consider those Nintendo franchises a big deal, and care about how other people think about the handheld device you use?

I travel a decent amount between Florida and NJ to visit my mom and my gfs mom since they both live in FL and let me tell you...
There won't be a single person in an airport or travel situation who gives a fuk if they see you playing a video game device. Most people are staring at their phones.the people who notice you, are probably just wishing they had something as fun to pass their time at the airport.
I remember years ago seeing some kid bust out his phone and attach a controller to it and use it as a screen at the airport and I was like damn what a fukin genius. This was before that was a common thing.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

Switch came out 5 years ago and the Deck just came out. Plus Switch emulation isn't great for all games.
Why would you play non-Nintendo games on Switch anyway? When you only consider exclusives, owning a switch makes perfect sense.
I canceled my steam deck reserve earlier this year because I realized I'd never use it, and that's halfway to a new GPU. It does look neat though.RIP snails
