It's already over 85% filled without anything coming through NS1. There's rumors Germany will soon announce end of import for russian gas by the beginning of December.

Kherson referendum by the russian installed puppets can not be held as planned and has to be paused due to the ongoing combat operations

    https://www.reuters.com/world/europe...an-2022-09-05/

Kirill Stremousov, deputy head of the Russian-appointed military-civilian regional administration, also said the vital Antonivskyi road bridge, which crosses the Dnipro river near Kherson city, was impassable to cars after weeks of Ukrainian shelling.

According to western sources, that 85% storage capacity is not enough to last through the winter.

So, are you telling me Germany is going to announce end of gas imports from Russia even though it won’t have enough to survive winter, never mind going forward?

I'm not sure why Germany would announce anything.

I'm pretty sure Russia has already ended that relationship.

I think at this point we can quantifiably say Russia is going to win no matter what and most of Europe needs Russia more than Russia needs them.

I think it was unethical and evil for Russia to initiate a war they knew they would drag out, but fuk the Ukraine as well for hosting so much western corruption, especially with regard to energy policy.

The concept is not so hard to understand. It's called breach of contract. Let's say you ordered a car from a dealership and already paid a deposit. But the car doesn't arrive on the arranged date. You notify that dealership that you cancel the order because of breach of contract and keep the rest of the money and also claim your deposit back. That's what Germany would do with announcing the import stop.
Btw would your friends in the future buy any cars from that dealership after seeing what happened to you?

German Gas to Last Less Than 3 Months If Russia Cuts Supply

Stocks are rising fast, but still not enough, regulator says Risks of energy rationing during the winter are still high

    Karin Matussek
    August 16, 2022, 7:01 PM EDT
Germany will struggle to have enough natural gas to get through the coming winter, even if reserves are replenished in line with government targets.

Refilling gas inventories to 95% full by November would only cover about 2-1/2 months of heating, industrial and power demand if Russia cuts off supplies completely, according to Klaus Mueller, president of the Federal Network Agency, the country’s energy regulator. Stockpiles are currently 77% full, which is two weeks ahead of schedule.

Germany, heavily dependent on Russian gas, is racing to fill its winter stockpiles after Moscow drastically cut flows on the key Nord Stream pipeline, exacerbating Europe’s worst energy crisis in decades that looks set to persist into next year. The government has urged lower consumption, warned of rationing and this week slapped a levy on gas use.

“We are a little bit faster than what we used to be in terms of filling up storage, but it is not a sign we can relax,” Mueller said in an interview Tuesday. “It should be understood as a push, instead. Let’s keep it going.”

With the risk of a cooler-than-normal autumn and the chance of further supply disruptions, the government-mandated target of storage sites being 85% full by October could be challenging, Mueller said. Meeting the November target of 95% seems “hard to achieve” because some storage sites require more time to fill, he said.

“I cannot promise you that all storage facilities in Germany will be 95% full in November, even under good supply and demand conditions,” Mueller said. “In the best-case scenario, three-fourths of them will meet the target.”
    That was August 16

I think people underestimate how much Russia is willing to sacrifice to hurt US influence in Europe.

If Europe is forced to change their foreign policy towards Russia, a fairer and balanced trade relationship, then I’ll be worth all the sacrifices it is making right now.
Russia is moving closer towards the East, but at the same time if it succeeds and manages to overthrow a number of governments in EU, it could potentially strengthen trade in Europe as well.

Well, if it's the only dealership in the city where you can buy a fancy BMW for 10k, I am sure they would, considering they have no other choice. Or their other choice is travelling across the ocean and buying the same BMW for 100k.

100% agree that meeting with the G7 and conspiring to price cap energy on said contract will effectively....end the contract.

Like I said. Things are binary. You can frame and talk all you'd like. If you go to war from the very nation that supplies your life blood, you might want to consider the consequences.

BTW, do you have friends that try to tell the dealership how much to sell the cars for or furthermore come over to the house while you're fighting in the yard with a neighbor and keep throwing the guy a stick though you're whooping his ass?

BTW metaphors are pointless. Speak to the facts.

I expect more from a superpower than struggling like this. US struggles in the Middle East due to defense industry corruption and now Russia struggles in the Ukraine for similar reasons. There's no excuse for Russian soldiers not having ir counter measures for javelins/stingers etc. There's also no excuse for the war dragging on like this because Russia is half assed grinding through it. They'd rather spend lives than money....

So yes, Russia is brutal. That's not even a controversial or debatable point lmao. I'd consider their negligence to reduce collateral life lost as much as possible as a calculated decision thus evil.

There are no winners in this war, so I'll walk that point back. Russia will succeed in their mission, whatever that is, however. No doubt they have great reasons to attack the Ukraine due to their corrupt energy policy, but the aforementioned points still stand.

Breaking ~ Russia has switched off the main gas pipeline to Europe. Won't turn on until western imposed sanctions are lifted!

Russia’s gas supplies to Europe via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline will not resume in full until the “collective west” lifts sanctions against Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin has said.

Dmitry Peskov, President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, blamed EU, UK and Canadian sanctions for Russia’s failure to deliver gas through the key pipeline, which delivers gas to Germany from St Petersburg via the Baltic sea.

“The problems pumping gas came about because of the sanctions western countries introduced against our country and several companies,” Peskov was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency. “There are no other reasons that could have caused this pumping problem.”

Peskov’s comments were the starkest demand yet by the Kremlin that the EU roll back its sanctions in exchange for Russia resuming gas deliveries to the continent.

In terms of winning the war, idk, that take is probably correct. As much as russias military has shown itself to be dog**** by global superpower standards, it is still has the advantage over ukraine even with the superior western weaponry AND is right next to ukraine. Numbers matter in war.

I disagree that europe needs russia more than russia needs europe. Europe will make it out of this with a mild recession according to all financial experts, russia wont. Germany and the rest of the EU will have a much easier time finding replacements for its russian energy than russia will finding clients to export the sheer quantity of gas and oil that it was sending europe.

But we’ll have to wait and see…

Also, i dont think russia intended to drag this war out. Initially it was obvious that russias plan was to do in ukraine what they did in georgia, i.e. quick effective war with few casualties on either side.

2014 when two states of ethnic Russians were forced to stand militias to fight Azov from ethnic cleansing.

Ukraine entrenched themselves in complex bunkers along the lpr/dpr and since then has fortified the area over the last 8 years. Ukraine has fired many rounds into the population ceters there as well. With weak leadership from the US, we ended up in this world changing suck.

Of course russia did deliberately stop the gas supply and Germany can't do anything to prevent rhat. I'm not denying this. The russians openly said it now too. The gas supply will not resume until sanctions are lifted (before they said it had technical reasons). It's an open economic war between EU and russia now.

If my neighbour gets onto the property of my other neighbour and start punching him, I would throw the guy being attacked a stick, yes. But yeah things are binary and russia now is stuck between a rock and a hard place with the war not going how it was planned and all the sanctions loaded onto their back. The gas supply is the last big lever they have and they have to use it now, I understand that and also saw it coming this way. Tbh I wondered why they were waiting so long to stop the supply entirely.
