Great showing by both.

Tai did a good job of cutting off the ring early on to keep Gane in range. Being able to do that even remotely effectively against someone with Gane’s footwork, length, and skill was really impressive. Massive chin and especially heart too to eat those body shots over and over.

Gane also showed great heart after he nearly got starched. Really started bringing heat and directly firing back. Hadn’t seen that side of him, good show.

Great fight that brought the best out of both guys.

Then Whittaker went just like anyone with a brain knew it would (even tho I was wrong in thinking it was a 5rd fight). Izzy is just the absolute worst match up for him. With how weak LHW is, I wouldn’t mind seeing Rob move up a weight class. His fighting style would translate better against the bigger guys, than Izzy’s did against Jan.

there's almost nothing that Vettori does better than Whittaker.

Whittaker hits harder, quicker, faster, has good wrestling defense, more skilled, etc.

Whittaker was very clear at the post fight conference while being physically beaten down about Izzy, that he does not want to fight Izzy again because he can't beat him and doesn't think anyone else specifically Periera has a chance either. Robert seems more frustrated that his accomplishments are diminished by people not acknowledging how great Izzy is.

That frustration was very apparent in response to being asked about Izzy being boring. Whittaker shot down that nonsense stating the obvious that their job is to win fights and Izzy does that easily, adding that if he could go into fights and hold opponents down for 25 minutes straight he would absolutely do it.
