Can I discipline my employees who are ‘quietly quitting’?
I’ve been hearing a lot about the new term “quiet quitting” where employees just coast, doing the bare minimum to get by. I feel that my team performs that way. Is this the new work norm with this generation, and should I just accept it? Or can I require these employees to put in more effort?
If you just accept employees doing the bare minimum to get by, then you’re “quiet quitting” your job as a manager. Bottom line: You can’t force anyone to do anything. Employees who coast are usually disengaged from their work, so figuring out how to get them motivated is the only way to get them to naturally sustain higher engagement. If you can’t, or they won’t, then you can set expectations for performance and outcomes. And if they don’t meet those expectations, you can quietly fire the quitters.

depends on the job imo, gotta make sure it doesn't devolve into some phucking cutthroat and toxic work environment with people just continuously trying to step on each other and backstab for more pay. it's not always beneficial for a company and everything at the cost of pure revenue and profit performance isnt the be all end all.
i think performance-based incentives is probably a better way forward.
but yeah, phuck these CEO's lmao, you can't blame people for quietly quitting if there isn't a path to advance, much incentive, lack of work-life balance, etc. people just tryna live.positivity brah crew

A lot of workers wonder what incentive there is to do more than the minimum. Since better pay isn’t on the table, the only option employers have is to deal with it or fire the employee. Employees don’t care, there’s plenty of places to worn that offer a chit pay. This is not an employers market.
I've been seeing the past in one eye and the present in the other. So, I thought I could only see patches of reality, never the whole picture. I felt like I was watching a dream I could never wake up from. Before I knew it, the dream was over.

I called this when the first thread got posted. Patiently waiting for the new tiktok videos of those complaining about having lost their job because of following a stupid trend. Advertising yourself on social media doing stupid things is a great way to have bad consequences. Why does everyone act surprised?

The media is trying very hard to make Marxism happen.
In Marxism people just get tired of capitalist slavery and stop cooperating. There's no real fighting.
It's the result of education and realization.
It is likely that people aren't quietly quitting but rather the media is trying to make that a thing.
Meanwhile, a supervisor of mine, many years ago told me that he was in the Nazy and there's a saying that only 2% of people actually work. So, people have been quietly quitting since there have been jobs.If you want to ask me a question:

It’s ****ty, but the system pushed people to do the minimum. The reward for being a high performer is more work. Meanwhile, slackers get put in a corner so they won’t cause problems. The performers have to pick up the slack. Everyone gets paid the same. High performers become unmotivated seeing the slackers doing nothing and being paid the same. Why bust your ass?

How do you ****s say things like this with a straight face
You need incentives to do your job right? Ffs doing your job well should be the bare minimum required to keep it. Imagine thinking you should be getting constant promotions and pats on the back just for doing your job.
You guys are the work equivalent of a fat 2/10 sloot that does the bare minimum and thinks she deserves a 9/10 chad

This, and it's honestly insane to think CEOS and Executives, who are in charge of major decisions, are not smart enough to realize this. I work for a good company who rewards effort so I have no issues going above my normal job duties, but I've worked for the companies that reward hard work with more work as well.
Everyone is fed up with the CEOS taking home 7 figure bonuses every year, while the employees are getting a measly 1-3% raise everywhere if they are lucky.6'1 - 240lbs
