Any sort of barrier will do plenty to stop intruders. No one is saying 100%, but will reduce crossings significantly. That's not how real life works. 9 out of 10 people will see a tall barrier and will stop just because of that alone.

That’s kind of a disingenuous way of looking at the stats. There’s an increase in border crossings because 1) the wall is unfinished, 2) Biden urged migrants to “surge” the border, 3) we’re not sending people back at the rate we were under Trump, and 4) illegals are being shipped all over the country and encouraging other family across the border to cross because of their own success getting in to the country. It’s cyclical. The increase is directly related to Biden’s policies and Mayorkas lack of enforcement. Period.

Nothing will ever be 100%, not even a wall. If someone wants through the wall bad enough, they’ll get through. What you don’t seem to realize though is there are large groups of people ranging from small kids to the old that attempt to cross very inhospitable areas that would kill many people simply due to exposure. If you impede their progress and make them carry 50-100 lbs more of gear during the entirety of their trek, they’re much less likely to survive the heat, crossing of treacherous rivers, etc. with all of that gear. THEN, they stop attempting crossings in such numbers, which equals fewer crossings. It’s not rocket science.

Pretending this would have a net effect of zero is just plain ignorant. Just admit the idea that you would rather the border remain open to anyone (for whatever reason) and stop pissing on people’s leg and telling them it’s raining.
