Can companies/recruiters actually contact you based on your profile? Is it just for networking? Is there any use to it at all? Thoughts?

From what I've gathered from Brad's posts it's a site to make business brahs feel more important than they are
It was a dead site 10-20 years ago*Tolerance is the lube that slides the dildo of dysfunction into the ass of civilized society*

I've had a dozen or so recruiters reach out to me with job opportunities. Most of the time it's laughable dogxhit jobs, but recently had a guy reach out about a job similar to mine, so you never know...
Yeah this, too. People sharing irrelevant retarded bull**** in their feeds daily. All the people on my friend list or people who wanted to add me only did so because they want extra likes and attention to the lame chit they post

Linkedin is probably the dumbest social media platform there is. When I was in college they stressed we needed on for the "networking" (was a business major).
It's nothing more than a way for recruiters to hound you for jobs you don't want, or for people to brag about their ****ty jobs and people to post "motivational" things
"Congratulate Jack Mehoff for his new position at XYZ corp as lead analyst!"
I deleted all my info from mine. It's a waste

I get regular interview invites, and that's off the basis of my posting. I get 10's of thousands of views on each post within a niche area of my industry.
I've lost count of how many meetings with external partners that say "I've seen your content on LinkedIn"
Just wish I could monetise it. Should just YouTube my content tbh.A.L.L. Leukemia 2009 - 2012

Yeah I’ve received quite a bit of unsolicited interest from head hunters etc on there but you need to be skeptical as they’ll specifically be trolling for the lowest rate to maximize their own profit relative to what they charge Clients
Have not moved forward with any of the jobs because they won’t be even close to what I can get through my network within the industry

It’s two things in one
It’s a cringey social media site, where people use it like ******** to post stuff to their followers
But it’s also used a kind of job board/recruitment platform
You should have a LinkedIn profile for the second use, but not the first useBest lifts:

It kind of in a roundabout way can I believe. Last place I worked, our marketing guy used hubspot to automatically post IT content onto my feed. He was actually a pretty good tech writer that would post regularly on new technologies and trends in IT etc. Somehow the more views that his content got based on it linked to all of our networks that were tied to employer somehow increased our search rankings. Whenever someone did a search on certain technologies we would be in the top few hits.

At the very least its whats mentioned above 10x
At the worst its a Chinese/Russian data gathering campaign to figure out what the final stages of 3rd wave feminism has done to the American workplace. Its also a great way to figure out what combination of buzzwords makes a fat 37 year cat mom click a link, which in some futuristic world will be what determines all organic lifes fate, weither or not a fat 37 year old cat mom clicks a link or not.**Florida Crew**

I once accidentally pulled a babe who messaged me on LinkedIn.
She was tryna get into my industry and about to visit Portland. Met up the first time to talk about that… met up the 2nd time to get drinks. I invited Ratfish too cuz she brought a friend.
Went back to their air b&b after the bar…
Ratfish got slapped and made the 2nd gal cry so he had to leave lol
Then I RDL’d LinkedIn gal.
She wanted to date me n stuff but long distance not even once.
But I’m probably one of the only people to ever do such a thing on LinkedIn… by accident.
