The only way to avoid that fate is to never buy into the ideology. The second you buy into it, you're finished. Hope you enjoy eating bugs and riding the bus, best get a reservation on a good pod to live in.

Buy an electric car for performance reasons only....

People who buy electric cars to 'save the planet' are delusional, said this many times all an electric car does is move the emissions from the car to the power plant. yes the batteries are highly toxic as well.

understand that getting people off of oil to electric will be the largest transition of wealth i can think of in history, there is a lot to win and lose.

and what you choose what to do in your little town to 'conserve' when in China they are absolutley destroying the planet means nothing.

Yeah electric cars are just cope and a scam. A true "green" move would be to reduce car usage altogether and to invest in clean and efficient public transport.

That's a huge task btw considering how poorly designed and car centric a lot of American cities are

    in after no explanation.

then don't live in the city. the manufacturing base and logistics to bring food and product to the big cities is enough to cause health problems. You wouldn't want to swim in those waters where the shipping boats go in to port.

The more you educate yourself, the more people tend to realize all the drawbacks to EV's. It's a technology that is being aggressively pushed by big business and big gov because there is a phuck ton of money in it. This isn't the kinda chit where public perception will last long term, especially when the media has been aggressively trying to push it and shove all the negatives under a rug. Eventually the word is going to get out and people are going to realize how it's not so great.

I don't own a Tesla but have wondered if I did, and some day i hope to own one, where my power comes from. I guess the power company I'm signed up with buys power from around the area, instead of producing it themselves. At least I was told that. My power costs in Florida are around half of what I was paying in Illinois.

I'm thoroughly impressed with PHEVs but isn't it the same chit as EVs, but with a gas engine?

Yes, but they have much smaller batteries. A Prius Prime has an 8.8 kWh 352 V lithium-ion battery while a Tesla Model S Plaid has a 100 kWh 407 V lithium-ion battery. Plugin Hybrids don't strain the power grid as much, can actually be fully charged via Off Grid Solar Panels in 2-5 hours in sunny climates depending on how many panels/what equipment you have.
The best thing is since most people's commutes are not that long, many people can use like 90% electric 10% gas for the life of their vehicle despite having more than a 10 times smaller battery than a Full EV.

That's a huge task btw considering how poorly designed and car centric a lot of American cities are
That’s not by coincidence. Highway infrastructure layouts and suburban sprawls were designed as a means to capitalize on oil profits. The only logical solution for now is to go the EV route.

People living in dense cities have far worse mental health.

Shared walls are the worst invention ever.

That makes TOO much sense. I really like the idea of smaller batteries.

I recently got a chance to mess around with the Ford Fusion PHEV and that thing was a beast. Was super smooth and fast. The owners said it gets around 80 mpg.

I'm sure that's it and has nothing to do with people wanting to own land.

They're hybrids. Same way a diesel train works. You know, for the environment!
