They worked feverishly to be the last group of people to return to work from the Covid nonsense. They have zero concern for the children they teach. Lots of them went public with "it's not our job to babysit your kids" when people were frustrated by remote classes.

It's basically a bunch of useless people, with no marketable skills, who realized they could have job security while leaching off the taxpayers. Stay comfortable while (barely) working short hours with long vacations.

For the most part I think they are just a reflection of the general population. I have a lot of experience interacting with my kids' teachers (4 in public school right now) and I think they are generally pretty good people. Maybe I'm just not very discerning with respect to character. My preferred interpretation is that I live in an area with mostly good people.

I've seen these same news stories and I'm glad I don't live in an area where my kids are getting educated by teachers like that.

I got lucky and had some really good teachers in public MS and HS (graduated HS in 2006). Even had a couple hardcore lib teachers who respected me and had really solid discourse on history and current policy with. There's only like 2 left at that HS that I remember. When my sister went through 8 years after me, it was significantly worse than when I was there, and it's even worse now.

Thank god I don't want kids. It's very clear the public school system only exists to indoctrinate swathes of children and the number of teachers who actually care about preparing children for college and adult life is getting fewer and fewer. I would only have kids if I could afford to send them to private school srs.
