    Ivanko M series plates

I have a fair amount of Ivanko Ms and recently picked up some more. Unlike all the others I own, these seem to be lathed on the sides and back and appear a little thicker. Haven't measured them yet but at first glance they are thicker.

Anyone know the story why and when M series plates changed?

there's a ton of irregularities with Ivanko iron plates over the decades. Even the letter's fonts seem off between plates. As far as I know all the M series are "machined" and if noticeable through the paint you'd see it in rings around the center of hte plate backs. yorks on the other hand are milled and the backs look very different, like it was sanded with a random orbital sander. Non M series are not machined and have casting irregularities
