I have no doubt the Braves will pass them at some point. Doesn't matter. All that matters is October.

It's quite clear the Mets have two days and counting. If they avoid a sweep, they can stay in first for a few days thanks to the AS break. The 5 game series in NY early August will be the nail in the coffin.

Sunday. After the break the Braves get the Angels and will pull ahead a couple games (NYM have SD). After that the Braves have a stretch with Philly twice and Arizona while the NYM have the Yankees, Marlins and Washington. Braves will be up 3-4 going into their 5 game stretch with NYM and they will pull away by a couple more. NYM have another chance in August to close the gap and the Braves end up pulling further ahead, ending August up 6-7 games.

My guess and the first part of my prediction is shot with the Mets taking the double header from the Cubs. Won both by 1. I tried OP.
