It's often said 2nd world countries have happier people. Of course these places won't be 100% percect, but what place is?
As long as you have a marketable skill, you should be good to move to some 2nd world country. Do the research, make several visits, and if you like it apply for a citizenship. So now you have a backup plan.

If you think all hope is lost for America, why not apply for a 2nd citizenship?

Yeah, because you just gotta ask, right?
Why wouldn't they want you... you are an American, right?
Extremely valuable for them... they will be happy to have you there.
You guys gotta understand that just like America doesn't want Mexicans there, other countries do not want Americans in their territory aswell.

I didn't have any bad experience because I never even tried to get another citizenship. I'm not American. I have a Portuguese citizenship (which is basically an European citizenship that allows me to move to every single country inside the European Union). Ive lived in Portugal, Spain, Greece and Ireland.
The thing is, a country doesn't need a reason do deny you citizenship. Thats the "normal" thing to happen. Its much more difficult then just to ask.
The easiest ways would probably be marrying a local OR investing 500k+ euros (some countries allow it).
Even as an European citizen with the legal right to live in ... lets say...Germany... if I ask for a citizenship, they will deny it. Nevertheless, as I said, I have the right to live and work there.

Currently aiming for dual citizenship in New Zealand by mid 2024. Its surprisingly not that hard, just expensive. Basically, if you have the money you can do it.
Americas fine, its just nice to have options in case SHtF for whatever reason, doesn't have to be an economic or social reason. Hell, it can be for reasons completely outside of our control like some crazy natural disaster (Asteroid/earthquake/volcanic eruption).

I have dual citizenship, but where would I go, the US is the best by a long shot, going anywhere else would just be illogical cope.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
