    Captain crush grippers/hand grippers

Interested if any of you use them and what you think of them? Recently got the captain crush no.1 (140lbs) but im up to 50 reps for it, so I've just ordered the no.2 (195lbs)

I have the trainer. I'm thinking of getting the 1, 1.5 and 2. I just need to stop procrastinating and order them.

For some reason the Ivanko Super Gripper (posted above) causes my elbow/forearm tendonitis to flare up.

If you're doing 50 reps you definitely want to go up to the next gripper. Richard Sorin, first guy to close the #3 (285 pounds), would alternate 5x5 one day and 5 timed holds the other day with a day of rest in between if I remember right.

I have closed a #2 and got within an inch of the #3, could never get it to touch though. The #4 is a monster.

There's apparently a lot of variation between grippers. It's possible to get a gripper of a certain rating that's easier to close than one rated below it.

Did them for a while and thought they were improving my grip. Forearm tendinitis set in. Stopped using them and I don't think I'll ever start again. Not worth it. Just pulling heavy weight with pull ups, rows, and deads is enough for me.

Dynamometers are for measuring force, not training.

I thought it was both, it can measure force, but also use it for reps as a normal gripper.
    Never used one.

It cannot, you'll only be able to close it less than 1 cm or so, you cannot do full reps with it. You could do isometrics with it but I don't feel that would be a very efficient use of time (and you can do isometrics with regular grippers if you put something between the handles).

Different types of grip strength. Supporting strength is what you train with heavy movements, crushing strength is grippers, tennis balls, and the like.

Sounds right but I'd rather have average or even mediocre crushing strength than tendinitis.
