I have no skin in the game, but it is disappointing to see that now getting pregnant can be a death sentence.

Several months ago, my administrative assistant's daughter had a very bad situation where she had to make a decision to abort her pregnancy due to higher percentage than not that she wouldn't be able to carry to term (she had some kind of medical issue that I don't remember). They were devastated that they had to terminate the pregnancy, but it was a decision that, at the time, she had a right to make. If that same situation were to happen now, she'd be forced to carry to term and risk death or figure out a way to go to either Mexico or another State. She is petrified to get pregnant again due to the strict laws in place in Texas.

This is the problem with extreme positions, but congrats, you really stuck it to the Libs today.

I don't necessarily agree with abortion, but I am a Man. I think abortion is a decision that should be made by the woman and her health care professional..

Hope women from all across america revolt. If they wanted to women could shut the country down. Never underestimate the power of women.

Actually quite a few states aren't banning it. In most cases it'll be a matter of using birth control rather than just going to the clinic for an abortion whenever being knocked up if they're too poor to travel.

There are strong arguments on both sides for sure.... There have always been some exceptions for the life of the mother, and I do hope that continues, but I struggle to see any logic that says an unborn child is not a child. Ethical issues, yes, huge struggles for poverty and for autonomy of women, but I do come down on the side of a life is a life. When does it begin? I'm pretty certain - before birth. There may be some leeway - and debate - between conception and birth (often considered at the point of 'viability') but these remain challenging and complex.

I'm not advocating for those who seek abortion for just getting knocked up. There were 26 states (I think) that automatically outlawed it. Hopefully public outcry will prevail.

I'm pro leave it alone. I'm pretty much right down the middle on most political issues, but this should have never been made political; it's a medical issue.

True. Why right now? With all of the decisions on the SCOTUS' books, why would such a divisive decision be made at this time, when the country is already at each other's throats?

I am not arguing this at all, of course it is a child, but...... this country as it stands now isn't exactly set up for unlimited births because our priorities are currently warped.
I never got into the when does it begin debate, just once it is here, then what?
