Lack of an OEM pro controller has been a big complaint of mine gaming on PlayStation. Can't wait to get this.In a report published on Try Hard Guides, industry insider Tom Henderson claims to have heard from several sources that the platform holder will unveil new hardware at the end June, although this won’t include a new console.
Described to Henderson as a “genuine professional controller” for PS5, the new pad will reportedly feature removable analogue sticks and grips, trigger stops, and back paddles.
Buttons under the analogue sticks are said to allow users to remove the analogue unit completely, presumably enabling them to replace it with a new one rather than having to buy another controller should issues like stick drift arise.
Henderson said he was provided with images of an alleged prototype for the PS5 Pro controller, which it’s claimed will have significant software upgrades.
Following reports of a delay, it was recently claimed that Sony will confirm a November release date for God of War: Ragnarök later this month.
While unclear, it’s speculated that Sony could be planning to announce the game’s release date as part of a wider event which also includes the reveal of new PlayStation hardware.
Sony held its latest State of Play live stream earlier this month. It featured reveals and updates mainly focused on PlayStation games from third parties, although it also showed off Sony’s PlayStation VR2 game Horizon Call of the Mountain.

They see what the competitors are doing, and evolve from that and bring out a far superior product. That's how industry works. Otherwise we would still be using vacuum tubes.
I've never felt the need for a pro controller personally, can see the benefit if you play competitive multiplayer games. But the base PS5 controller feels premium as it is. I guess if the stock PS5 controller used ancient AA batteries then there might be a reason to upgrade. But very rarely will I play a game and want more buttons, when you consider gestures on the touchpad act as buttons too
Introduced in 1907 by The American Ever Ready Company, the AA battery size was standardized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in 1947, but it had been in use in flashlights and electrical novelties before formal standardization.

Weird how you didn't have the same reaction when Phil Spencer said Xbox would be copying PS's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
I am not a pro gamer but having back buttons really helps immerse you in the game. Complex controls just feel so much more natural. Not having back buttons since moving to PS5 is something I have really missed.

because of money.. sony see's all these third party companies on the internet showing how they mod controllers making them essentially what the "pro" controller would be like.. every time you see those videos its 99% sony controllers, rarely are they xbox controllers because xbox already has a product out there.
so now these controller modders won't make as much on PS5 controllers, but will continue to make money on those who still use ps4 controllers*** Free Thinker Crew ***

Yep, PS5 controller is my favorite ever made but damn that battery drains quickly. It's like I need to switch controllers every time I'm gonna game just to make sure it doesn't run out and kill my vibe during a good gaming session.
I never play 4+ hours but when I'm done playing I like to just lay the controller on my table for next time. Can't do that with the Dualsense.
