Putting together a 2000W Solar system for my barn and (if time allows) running PEX to complete a sprinkler system.
Are you able to source water or do you carry it all? Have you ever weighed your ruck? Do you move at night?

That's awesome!! ^^
I've been meaning to do some serious research on solar power for back up power in my home.
Do you have a resource you used to get legitimate information on the ins and outs of solar? I hear good things and bad things about it and I have a feeling it all boils down to politics, unfortunately.

Very nice and satisfying work... 2000W is a decent size, how many panels?
Lakes and streams everywhere so I only carry a nalgene bottle full
I weigh it occasionally and try to keep it under 40 lbs for longer trips, for a trip like this, the hammock only weighs about 3 lbs so I doubt the pack will even hit 15 lbsAir Force Veteran 1976 - 1999 - Cannabis Enthusiast since the 1960's

It all boils down to math. And the math is in favor of doing it right now. Everything is so much better and cheaper than it was even 5 years ago.
My complete system, including all wires, brackets, fuses, etc was just under 7k$ The whole thing is scalable so I could have spent around $4K but I wanted to be able to run a MIG welder and A/C at the same time, so I doubled my battery capacity and added two extra panels. I also used a 48V system because copper wire is expensive AF right now and higher voltage = less wire.
The system will generate around 12kwh and based on my past usage I will be able to replace around $110/ month. I get power from the TVA and it is actuall really cheap at 10.4 cents per kwh. Even so, my payoff time will be around 5 1/2 years. My system does not qualify for any type of incentives for a number of reasons.
Solar panel warranty states 80% efficiency at 20 years. Inverter warranty is 8 years and batteries are 10 years. (The batteries are 70% of the cost)
If you own an EV, this is a no-brainer. My system can fully charge a Model S Tesla every other day in the summer and every three days in the winter.
This kid has an absolutely crazy story and is as good as they come. I have verified as much as I need to and this is the guy I trust.

Have a great time! Love me some hammock camping.
We're in our second full month of having full solar. Rainy springs aren't a great measure perhaps but the past week we are returning energy to the grid. Very nice! Savings are looking to be about 1200 a year, with an install cost of 16k.It's never too late!

Also, no major plans. Mostly honey-do list with yardwork and stuff, but probably some playing Destiny (space shooter), gym day on Monday at my friend/coach's place, hang with the fam, and bbq on Monday afternoon.

I don't wanna sound racist, but Memorial Day is NOT supposed to be happy.
Consumerism has hijacked many important holidays, for the sake of the once almighty dollar, which will soon crash as we enter the greater depression.
Memorial Day I think of my friends who gave their lives for a corrupt empire full of criminal politicians who never served.
Memorial Day is reminder why we should preserve Liberty and Freedom at all cost, which are being taken away by the same evil politicians who run the empire who sent my friends to die for oil.
'Cmon man.' - Boe Jiden
But speaking of happy, I am almost done with my Japanese garden. It will have koi fish and lots of bonsai. The challenge is keeping my goats away because the garden is close to the goat barn.
Oh, and I almost forgot..

But major props nonetheless for at least trying to start a thread on being positive. This above all..
To thine ownself be true..
And it must follow, as the night the day..
Thou can'st not then be false to any man..

Me and wifey, her mom and long-time boyfriend, and her brother and girlfriend are doing a motorcycle ride to Gettysburg on Saturday for the day.
Sunday is church and family time.
Monday is the annual picnic on my side of the family.
Should be a great weekend reflecting on those lost building and keeping this country.AP7 Crew

Looking forward to watching some track and field as diamond league is coming to Eugene. The 100 m field looks more like an olympic final, and the mile should be interesting as well. Track has always been my favorite sport to follow and watch.
Will bring my camera out in nature for some tests - as a newbie I am just trying to experiment with different settings to see if I can come to some conclusions....do some side by side comparisons etc. Did this indoors a little bit yesterday. Plus reading up some about it atm, and looking for deals on some used equipment. Will likely go for an older (8 yrs old) high quality camera - my current one is pretty ****ty, but has a cool 30x zoom and is decent for macro shots.

Here’s one for ya that I came up with and did it:
Course is 120’ (I started at 50’ and stretched it every other day to 120’)
Carry each sandbag lightest to heavest jog back to get next bag, then carry them all back same way, bear hug no shouldering.
50# 75# 100# 125# 150# 175# 200# 225#
I did this in my 20s at 180# BW!

Wait - 'coming to Eugene'? Your location says Sweden - I live in Springfield my brother!
yeah I'd hope/still hope my buyback is closer to 10 years in the end but we'll see.
yes I can sell back/actually make money if my generation is more than my consumption - but generally it will just build a credit until winter.
Eventually I do want to add batteries so I can keep my energy and have a safety net for if/when the grid goes down. It's never too late!
