Saw some young 20’s girl at bar with an IUD symbol tattooed on her arm. Dead fkn srs.
Queen of degenmaxx crew I suppose
Also know some young “liberal/feminist” college girls in their 20’s that go to tattoo shop for monthly $20 days and just pick random chit from a book to tattoo on their bodies cause it’s cheap
Idiocracy 2.0 here we come

Depends on the tattoo, my friend has a couple graphic patterns on one arm that looks cool and compliments his anatomy. One of them is like the dark side of the moon cover graphic, it works.
But people with like cringey religious iconography, portraits, text, tribal chit, etc. So cringe. Especially if they have some dumbass story about what it means to them that they are dying to be asked about and then pretend to be reluctant to share the details.
My sister has a lion portrait on her thigh and it just looks like a big black splotch. No Shampoo crew

Plus esse, quam simultatur.
Tattoos is peacocking. High test people (e.g. spec ops) will have tattoos because they are low inhibition, low test people (e.g. powerlifters) will have tattoos because they want to seem like high test people.

My belief is that tattoos are a mild and somewhat accepted form of self-harm, gotten for 'pain relief'. I base this on:
* A large body of research showing strong correlations between body modification (tattoos, piercings etc) and psychological distress/self harm/addiction
* My experience that everyone I know with tattoos is f'd in the head
* My experience that people turn to tattoos after traumatic events
I think it's possible that they became more popular following the great recession in 2008 and into the 2010's due to psychological issues arising from precarious employment and financial stress
