For me, I feel successful in the following ways:
1. Married over twenty years and we still love each other.
2. My wife and I raised three competent kids.
3. I get paid to do work I enjoy.
4. I honestly feel successful in what I've attained with my education.
I didn't read the thread yet, but I can imagine my answer is very different from most. Maybe if I had ten million dollars in the bank, I'd feel successful about that, too. But I've just never been particularly money motivated. I know the fourth one is weird too, but I place a lot of value in learning and knowledge, and I've come a long way in that respect.

Having a healthy and cohesive family. Not having to worry about bills. Being able to enjoy your life with those you care about.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Its about clarity of thought.
You know that feeling when at work or in a relationship, that confusion that others can cause and that feeling like you just cant get settled mentally.
Success is being able to focus and be satisfied with yourself."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

-Autonomy at my job with a good living wage
-Pay all bills easily
-Living in a safe and aesthetic home where I enjoy being
-Affording all my travels and quality items instead of poverty chit that doesn't last
-Financial freedom with the ability to retire early if I so choose
-great relationships with friends and fam
I'm doing all these so I'm pretty damn content right now.

Earning more than your CoL and leisure, while taking into account a comfortable retirement. This way you're not dependent on others / the govt.
If I had to put on a number on it, I'd say $3k+/mo above your CoL. As this would get you a down payment on a house after 2-3 years, even without investment growth.i7-14700k

I feel like successful people live life on their own terms. When you are at one with your own nature, you are successful at life.

The same here, enough money so I can support my family plus a little more for my daughter in case something happens to her.
Hopefully, someday I would like to hear my daughter say something like "Thanks Dad for giving birth to me because I'm really glad I was born."
That would be my success.šŗ Lauren Brooks Kelly (snailsrus) - Jul 25, 1991 ā Jan 29, 2022

Iām a complete fulfillment person bro. Being happy, making God happy and making others happy, this is success to me. I think there is much satisfaction in having a secure and happy family life also. Money, fame, status, everything else can only give you temporary happiness and does not make you feel whole, there will always be something missing if you chase those things.

Something that will never be full achieved.
24 year old me has surpassed his definition of success, but 37 year old me has new goals and a revised definition of it and is still working towards that.
Hopefully 45 year old me will have achieved 37 year old's definition but will have a new one of his own..........thus, never fully achieving it.
